Job description

The Disability Support Services (DSS) Department seeks a dedicated and motivated master's-level intern to support students with disabilities in achieving academic success. The intern will gain supervised experience in student support, accommodations management, and disability services within a higher education setting. This role offers an opportunity to develop professional skills in accessibility, advocacy, and student development.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in intake meetings with students to discuss accommodation needs.
  • Support the implementation and monitoring of academic accommodations.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students (e.g., coaching, study strategies, self-advocacy skill-building).
  • Assist with case management tasks, such as documentation review and follow-up communication.
  • Conduct outreach to students regarding DSS resources and services.
  • Support students in using assistive technology and campus learning tools.
  • Collaborate with DSS staff on workshops and events related to accessibility, mental health, and student success.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with FERPA and ADA/Section 504.
  • Attend weekly supervision meetings and participate in professional development opportunities.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of the internship, the intern will:
