We are seeking highly experienced Pipe Welders to join a growing manufacturing and fabrication operation in Bloomfield, CT. This position is intended for experienced welders who can step into production with minimal ramp-up and contribute quickly to the fabrication and welding of complex, highly certified pipe assemblies.
The ideal candidate will have advanced pipe welding and pipe fit-up experience, strong print-reading and interpretation skills, and demonstrated experience working to applicable industry codes and standards. Candidates should be comfortable welding pipe in multiple positions and working with a variety of materials and welding processes.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Pipe Welder who can bring a high level of technical skill and production capability to a manufacturing environment.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Pipe Welder is responsible for fitting, fabricating, joining, and welding pipe and related assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, welding procedures, applicable codes, and production requirements.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong pipe fit-up and welding capabilities and be able to independently interpret technical drawings, prepare joints, select appropriate welding techniques, and produce high-quality welds that meet established specifications.
Experience with 6G and/or 6GR pipe welding is strongly preferred, along with experience working with process piping and recognized industry standards such as ASME B31.1, ASME B31.3, and/or API.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Pipe Welding & Fabrication
* Fit, prepare, tack, and weld pipe and fabricated assemblies in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, welding procedures, and applicable codes.
* Perform pipe welding in multiple positions, including 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, 6G, and/or 6GR, as required by the application.
* Perform high-quality pipe welding using GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), and other applicable welding processes.
* Weld a variety of materials, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
* Perform advanced pipe fit-up, including alignment, measurement, beveling, joint preparation, tacking, and positioning.
* Read and interpret engineering drawings, piping drawings, fabrication drawings, weld symbols, specifications, and other technical documentation.
* Prepare pipe and materials for welding through grinding, cleaning, beveling, and other required preparation activities.
* Verify alignment, dimensions, fit-up, and weld quality throughout the fabrication process.
* Identify and troubleshoot fit-up and welding issues and take appropriate corrective action.
* Complete assigned welding and fabrication work accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with production schedules.
* Safely operate welding equipment, grinders, cutting equipment, hand tools, and fabrication equipment.
Quality & Compliance
* Perform welding in accordance with established welding procedures, specifications, and quality requirements.
* Apply applicable industry codes and standards to welding and fabrication activities.
* Maintain consistent workmanship and quality when working on highly certified pipe assemblies.
* Visually inspect completed welds and identify potential defects or inconsistencies.
* Report nonconforming materials, welds, equipment issues, or other quality concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
* Maintain accurate and consistent work practices to minimize rework and support production efficiency.
* Follow all applicable safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company Health & Safety policies.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced Pipe Welding Experience
* 3+ years of professional pipe welding experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, industrial, process piping, power generation, or similarly regulated environment.
* Demonstrated experience welding pipe in multiple positions.
* Experience with 6G and/or 6GR pipe welding is strongly preferred.
* Strong pipe fit-up experience, including the ability to accurately determine proper alignment, dimensions, bevels, joint preparation, and positioning.
* Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, piping drawings, fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and specifications.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and contribute to production with minimal supervision.
* Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of pipe fabrication and assembly.
Welding Codes & Standards:
Experience working to one or more of the following industry standards is strongly preferred:
* ASME B31.1
* ASME B31.3
* API standards
Candidates should be able to identify welding codes and standards for which they currently hold qualifications or certifications, as well as any relevant certifications or qualifications previously held that are no longer current.
Materials:
Experience welding multiple materials, including:
* Carbon steel
* Stainless steel
* Aluminum
Welding Processes:
Experience with one or more of the following:
* GTAW (TIG)
* GMAW (MIG)
* Additional welding processes are a plus.
Additional Qualifications:
* Welding certifications and/or documented welding qualifications strongly preferred.
* Strong understanding of welding procedures, fabrication practices, and quality requirements.
* Ability to troubleshoot welding and fit-up issues and determine appropriate corrective action.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
* Ability to follow written and verbal instructions while working independently.
* High school diploma, GED, or equivalent trade education preferred.
* Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and safe welding practices.

Qualified candidates should be prepared to provide information regarding:
* Current welding certifications and qualifications.
* Pipe welding positions for which they are currently qualified or have significant prior experience.
* Applicable welding codes and standards for which they are currently qualified.
* Previous welding certifications or qualifications that are no longer current.
* Materials and welding processes for which they have documented experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Including, but not limited to:
* Ability to weld in multiple positions, including standing, kneeling, crouching, and overhead positions.
* Ability to work for extended periods in a manufacturing and fabrication environment.
* Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. using proper body mechanics.
* Ability to push or pull materials, welding equipment, and other shop equipment safely.
* Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and work in varying positions as required.
* Ability to work around welding equipment, pipe, fabrication equipment, and moving materials.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE):
Required PPE may include:
