Job Description
We are seeking friendly, dependable, and customer-focused Attendants local to the Joplin area who enjoy helping travelers and providing exceptional customer service. These part-time positions play a key role in promoting Missouri tourism by welcoming visitors, providing travel information, and maintaining an inviting, informative environment. This position is designed to provide coverage on weekends, State holidays, and during staff vacations, illnesses, training, and other scheduling gaps as needed. Additional coverage may also be required when other part-time staff members are unavailable to work scheduled shifts. Hours are flexible and vary based on operational needs. Skills & Qualifications • Demonstrated reliability and a dependable work history. • A positive attitude and a willingness to learn. Training will be provided for candidates who are eager to learn about Missouri travel destinations, attractions, history, maps, mileage charts, navigation tools, and other job-related skills. • Basic computer skills and the ability to search for information online. • Strong customer service skills with courteous, professional, clear, and enthusiastic communication. • Ability to work independently and follow established policies and procedures. • Dependable, flexible, and able to adapt to changing schedules and staffing needs. • Must have consistent, reliable transportation. • Must be able to pass a background check. Key Responsibilities • Welcome and assist visitors with travel information about Missouri. • Answer questions about Missouri attractions, accommodations, events, and road conditions. • Distribute Missouri tourism literature and official road maps. • Assist travelers with basic trip planning and directions. • Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked brochure racks and displays. • Answer telephone calls and take messages as needed. • Receive and organize deliveries of tourism materials. • Log daily visitor counts and assist with data collection. • Work under the direction of the Welcome Center Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor. • Perform other duties as assigned. Work Schedule • November-March: Welcome Center open Monday through Saturday. • April-October: Welcome Center open seven days a week. • Shifts are primarily scheduled on weekends, State holidays, and to provide coverage during employee absences, travel, training, or scheduling conflicts. • Hours are flexible and may vary based on operational and staffing needs. • The Welcome Center is closed on Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, Easter, and New Year's Day.
