Scale Operator – Dry Sand PlantArepet Industries – Von Ormy, TX
Full-Time | 12-Hour Shifts | 4 Days On / 4 Days Off

Position Summary
Arepet Industries is seeking a dependable, friendly, and detail-oriented Scale Operator for our dry sand plant/loadout facility in Von Ormy, TX.
This is primarily a desk and computer-based position located inside an active industrial dry sand plant. The Scale Operator is responsible for weighing and coordinating inbound and outbound trucks, verifying load information, maintaining accurate records, communicating with drivers and plant personnel, and assisting with general office and scale-house operations.
The ideal candidate is dependable, comfortable working independently, has good computer skills, and can communicate professionally with truck drivers and coworkers throughout a 12-hour shift.
Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.

This is a Safety-Sensitive position in an MSHA-regulated work environment.

Schedule
  • 12-hour shifts
  • Rotating 4 days on / 4 days off schedule
  • Schedule includes weekends and holidays based on the rotation
  • Must be able to report on time and remain on duty for the entire scheduled shift
  • Dependable and consistent attendance is essential
Primary Responsibilities
  • Operate the truck scale and loadout systems.
  • Accurately record inbound and outbound truck weights, including gross, tare, and net weights.
  • Verify truck numbers, carrier information, purchase orders, sand type, load information, and other documentation for accuracy.
  • Coordinate with truck drivers and plant personnel to facilitate safe and efficient truck loading and movement.
  • Communicate professionally and courteously with drivers, customers, vendors, coworkers, and management.
  • Answer telephone calls and emails and direct questions to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain accurate scale tickets, load records, invoices, purchase order information, and other required documentation.
  • Monitor loadout activity and promptly communicate discrepancies, operational concerns, safety issues, or equipment problems.
  • Assist management with production records, reports, data entry, filing, and other administrative duties.
  • Follow Company safety policies, site procedures, traffic rules, and applicable MSHA requirements.
  • Participate in required safety meetings and training.
Housekeeping Responsibilities
The Scale Operator is responsible for helping maintain a clean and professional scale house, office, and assigned common areas. Current housekeeping responsibilities include:
  • Sweeping and mopping
  • Dusting and cleaning work areas
  • Emptying trash
  • Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms
  • Replenishing restroom supplies
  • Maintaining assigned office/common areas
These responsibilities may change as staffing and operational needs change.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Basic computer and data-entry skills required.
  • Comfortable using email, office software, printers, scanners, and other computer-based systems.
  • Previous scale house, dispatch, administrative, customer service, trucking, logistics, industrial, or production experience preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Friendly and professional communication skills.
  • Ability to interact professionally with truck drivers throughout the shift.
  • Ability to work independently with limited direct supervision.
  • Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Willingness to perform required housekeeping and restroom-cleaning duties.

Work Environment
Although this is primarily a desk position, the Scale Operator works at an active dry sand processing and truck loadout facility.
The work environment includes truck traffic, heavy equipment, industrial machinery, sand, dust, noise, vibration, and changing weather conditions. Employees must maintain situational awareness and follow all required safety procedures.
Required PPE must be worn when entering designated plant or operational areas.
Safety-Sensitive Position
This position is designated as Safety Sensitive due to the employee's responsibilities within an active MSHA-regulated facility and involvement in coordinating truck movement and loadout activities.
Employees are expected to follow all Company and applicable MSHA safety requirements and report to work capable of safely performing their assigned responsibilities.
