Job description

UNC Chapel Hill Catering Server & Football Game Day Server (Part-Time)Position Summary
In this role, you'll help create memorable experiences for guests at UNC Chapel Hill Football home games, premium hospitality areas, athletic events, weddings, corporate functions, and special events throughout the Triangle. If you are dependable, energetic, enjoy working as part of a team, and take pride in delivering outstanding hospitality, we'd love to meet you!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service with a friendly, professional, and positive attitude.
  • Set up, serve, and break down food and beverage stations for catered events.
  • Serve plated meals, buffets, hors d'oeuvres, and beverages according to Rocky Top Catering service standards.
  • Work in premium hospitality areas during all UNC Chapel Hill Home Football Games.
  • Maintain buffet displays by replenishing food, beverages, utensils, and serving equipment throughout events.
  • Clear tables and maintain clean, organized event spaces during and after service.
  • Assist with event setup and breakdown, including tables, chairs, linens, décor, and service equipment.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service guidelines.
  • Work closely with Event Managers, Captains, Chefs, and fellow team members to ensure successful event execution.
  • Represent Rocky Top Catering professionally while interacting with guests, clients, and university partners.
  • Complete assigned side work and perform additional duties as needed.
Qualifications
  • Previous restaurant, catering, banquet, hospitality, or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong work ethic with a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining exceptional guest service.
  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel to event locations throughout the Triangle.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality are required.
  • Must be available to work all UNC Chapel Hill Home Football Games and all required blackout dates (primarily Saturdays) during the football season.
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
  • Ability to follow directions and maintain a professional appearance.
  • Ability to remain calm, organized, and professional during high-volume events.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
  • Bend, stoop, reach, push, and pull throughout the shift.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to work long shifts while maintaining a high level of energy and professionalism.
Schedule
This is a part-time, event-based position. Team members must be available to work all UNC Chapel Hill Home Football Games and are expected to honor all required blackout dates (primarily Saturdays) during the football season.
