Summary/Objective: The Toolmaker will work with Design Engineers and Molding Technicians to build, perform repair, and provide preventive maintenance on precision molds and extrusion dies.
Essential Functions/ Responsibilities:
  1. Surface grinding: Long-established ability to grind over a multitude of operations from flat to form work, able to hold typical tolerances of .0001" on form features and .000020" stack on individual laminates.
  2. EDM: Proven ability to burn over the entire spectrum of cavity components including precision core laminates. Possesses ability to design and build electrodes when possible and works with the CNC department when needed.
  3. Vertical milling, Lathe: Demonstrated ability to run any support machinery in the shop, most of which are not used on a daily basis however the ability to complete tasks as needed.
  4. Inspection: Along with using tools in their own work, this individual has the proven capability of inspecting incoming steel as well as collaborating with the QA Inspector to review all components before they are assembled in a mold, or shipped out to a molding vendor.
  5. Final fit & assembly: Performs tasks in a support role to Toolmaker III work that encompasses assembly of a complete new mold from individual components. Reviewing BOM's to see that all components are accounted for and are within specification limits.
  6. Travels to molders in a support role: Willing to travel and perform tasks in a role under a primary advisor of Toolmaker III status.

Required Experience:
  1. 5+ Years' Minimum Experience as a Moldmaker.
  2. Must be mechanically inclined and be able to troubleshoot high precision molds.
  3. Communication and organizational skills are required.
  4. Must have a sense of urgency and have a high level of attention to detail.
  5. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist.

Preferred Education:
  1. High School Diploma is required.
  2. Journeyman Certification in Tool & Die Maker or Moldmaker trade is preferred.
