About the role of a Toolmaker: The Toolmaker's purpose is to construct precision tools or dies that are used to cut, shape, and form metal and other materials. They produce jigs and fixtures and gauges and other measuring devices.
Responsibilities of a Toolmaker:
Cut and shape tools with lathes and cutting machines
Proficiently run a Bridgeport, OD/ID Grinders, and other Surface Grinding
machines
Use precision measurement instruments such as micrometers, gauges, and calipers to check the tool's dimensions
Monitor Machines to ensure efficient run rates, identify repairs and suggest
improvements
Benching and Polishing experience a plus
Additional skills and/or experience required for success in the role of a Toolmaker:
Mechanically inclined
Able to use hand tools such as wrenches, screw drivers, etc.
Possess basic computer skills
Able to commit to perfect attendance during the training schedule
Able to read job instructions
Able to complete required paperwork
Able to stand, walk, bend, push, pull, lift, and sit as needed throughout the day
Able to communicate clearly and effectively
