POSITION PURPOSE:

Manages and supports enterprise endpoint management systems and components associated with the Windows domain infrastructure within Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) in accordance with system standards, procedures, and policies.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Google Apps;
  • Knowledge of endpoint management platforms (i.e., Microsoft Configuration Manager);
  • Knowledge and experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPOs, and other infrastructure roles;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop and server operating systems in enterprise environments;
  • Excellent customer service skills;
  • Strong scripting abilities (i.e., PowerShell);
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve complex hardware, software, and network issues in various environments;
  • Ability to effectively function within a team environment and to work independently;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, external agencies, attorneys, parents, and the public.

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's degree in a relevant computer or technology-related field; AND
  • Five years of relevant technical work experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.

 

 

 

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

  • Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license according to the State of North Carolina requirements.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with endpoint management platforms (i.e., Microsoft Configuration Manager, Intune);
  • Experience with software and application deployment;
  • Working knowledge of scripting languages and automation tools (i.e., PowerShell);
  • Experience administering Windows Active Directory environments, including group policy, user, and security administration;
  • Knowledge of enterprise domain environments and identity management systems;
  • Experience with endpoint protection and security management tools (i.e., Microsoft Defender);
  • Experience with Microsoft cloud services and device management platforms (i.e., Azure, Intune).

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides Tier 3 support for issues escalated by support technicians and the WCPSS Help Desk.
  • Provides administration and support of enterprise endpoint management environments and services, including endpoint updates, encryption, software deployment, and endpoint protection management.
  • Provides enterprise-level software support, deployment, and application updates.
  • Collaborates with platform and infrastructure teams on group policy management and enterprise security initiatives.
  • Assists with enterprise identity and access management processes and solutions.
  • Maintains accurate, detailed, timely, and customer-focused documentation of all assigned issues in the WCPSS ticketing system.
  • Complies with all WCPSS standards, procedures, and processes, including accurate completion of required administrative documentation such as timesheets, leave forms, and expense reports. Provides input to management regarding process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Works collaboratively in team environments on special projects, including school conversions, upgrades, deployments, and design reviews, as requested.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, students, and the community. Work at times requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or exert up to 25 pounds. Physical requirements are consistent with those for medium work. The work requires driving automotive equipment.
