The Postdoctoral Research Associate is responsible for conducting lab experiments, analyzing and communicating data in the form of primary research articles, aiding in grant writing, supervising undergraduate students, and performing routine lab duties as required.

Salary: Will be commensurate based on the selected hire's education and experience.
Location: Bryan, TX
Schedule: Full-Time; This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends

Required educations and experience
  • Appropriate PhD in a related field.

Preferred qualifications
  • PhD, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science
  • Training in statistics, and programming experience in a UNIX/Linux environment using programming languages such as Python, R, and/or Perl is required.
  • Experience in analysis of genomis /trancriptomic /epigenomic data including RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, and ChIP-seq.
  • Experience in working with high-performance computing environment.
  • Experience in data management and developing data-processing pipelines.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, Matlab.
  • Familiarity with software development best practices (e.g., unit testing, version control).
  • Familiarity with inferential statistics and machine learning.
  • Expertise in computational biology and ability to devise innovative analytical approaches to high-volume genomic, epigenomic, and gene expression data.
  • Capable of working within a team of wet and dry lab researchers.

Responsibilities
Data Analysis
  • Performs hypothesis-driven computational research with a clear understanding and use of controls.
  • Uses computational methods to analyze large-scale sequencing data and formulate quantitative models.
  • Interprets the data and explain the results in research discussion.
  • Implements, applies, and evaluates tools to process, integrate, and visualize high-throughput sequencing datasets

Data Presentation
  • Explores and brings novel approaches and ideas to their project by collaborating with other labs at TAMU and other collaborators.
  • Provides support to lab members and collaborators in designing experiments and analyzing datasets.
  • Presents their work at group meetings and write up their work for publication.
  • Communicates scientific results at lab meetings and scientific conferences

Software Development and Data Management
  • Explores and brings novel approaches and ideas to their project by collaborating with other labs at TAMU and other collaborators.
  • Provides support to lab members and collaborators in designing experiments and analyzing datasets.
  • Maintains, updates software on TAMU cluster for the group.
  • Contributes to our code base and to keep your own code in a github (or equivalent) repository with version control.

Lab Management
  • Supervises undergraduate and/or graduate students and other laboratory, technical or field staff involved in research.
