Job description

Overview

Supports one or more areas of Tableau development and Tableau server administration that includes program management, design analysis, documentation of business needs and adoption. Serves as a liaison between the end-users of the company and IT to identify, communicate, and execute on requirements.

Responsibilities

The list of essential functions, as outlined herein, is intended to be representative of the duties and responsibilities performed within this classification. It is not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class.   • Manages the Tableau Server environment(s) and Site(s), builds and publishes interactive dashboards, and consults with all internal IT teams to ensure an infrastructure that supports stable, well-designed, highly available, and properly maintained
  • Administers and supports Tableau infrastructure, creates and manages groups, workbooks and projects, database views, data sources, and data connections
  • Utilizes SQL and data storage techniques to cultivate data from multiple data sources
  • Leads Tableau activities including application and program initiatives by providing oversight and management of the business needs, development requirements for enhancements and modifications related to requirements and delivery cycles
  • Collaborates with internal users and external vendors to translate corporate/functional business and information objectives into a strategic/tactical business plan
  • Evaluates, facilitates and manages meetings with key stakeholders to review and map out existing practices and identify efficiencies attainable through process alignment and/or improvements
  • Designs, maintains and enforces Tableau best practices and governance policies.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:  

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business Administration or related field from an accredited college or university.  Four (4) years of IT software development related experience; program leadership, software business analysis; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.    

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND DESIGNATIONS:  

Tableau Certification, PMI Project Management; CAPM or PMP desired and IIBA Business Analyst; CBAP; preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  

  • Ability to develop, maintain, and manage advanced Tableau reporting, analytics, and dashboard content
  • Proficient and comfortable working with SQL and relational databases for dashboard development
  • Ability to maintain, support, upgrade, etc. a Tableau server environment
  • Knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures required to perform business needs analysis and analysis requirements
  • Ability to analyze data sets and document business processes
  • Ability to multi-task and remain flexible when priorities or work direction change
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to explain technical concepts in non-technical terms to customers and staff
  • Ability to organize work for timely completion
  • Ability to speak, write, read, and understand English
  • Ability to follow complex oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships, influence and build consensus with those contacted in the course of work
  • Skill in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to commute with personal transportation and travel up to 25% of the time.
