Job description

Job Title: Surgical Technician (Surgical Tech / Operating Room Tech)

Location: Towson, Maryland

Job Type: Full Time (Monday – Friday)

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Surgical Technician to join our operating room team. The Surgical Technician plays a critical role in supporting surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals before, during, and after surgical procedures. This position ensures a sterile environment, prepares surgical instruments, and assists in delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing instruments, equipment, and supplies
  • Set up surgical tables and ensure all tools are available and functioning
  • Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and supplies
  • Maintain a sterile field and adhere to infection control protocols
  • Monitor and track surgical instruments, sponges, and supplies during procedures
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team to ensure efficient workflow
  • Assist with patient positioning, draping, and preparation prior to surgery
  • Clean and restock operating rooms after procedures
  • Collaborate with surgical team members to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program required
  • Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred or required depending on state regulations
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • At least 2 years of prior experience in an operating room
  • Knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and sterile techniques
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
