The Office of Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS), housed in the Athletic Complex, is offering one graduate employment opportunity designed to prepare emerging professionals for careers in student-athlete academic services and related areas of higher education. The Student-Athlete Academic Success Assistant serves as a graduate-level member of the SAAS team, gaining practical experience in academic advising, learning support, class attendance monitoring, assessment, and student development within a Division I athletics environment.
Responsibilities:
-Maintain a caseload of assigned football student-athletes receiving academic support services and assist with the implementation of individualized learning support plans.
-Monitor student progress, communicate concerns to professional staff, and assist with outreach regarding academic concerns, progress reports, and student referrals.
-Conduct weekly academic check-in meetings with assigned caseload of football student-athletes to review academic progress, upcoming assignments and exams, study strategies, organization, and provide overall academic accountability.
-Compile and organize academic data communicating concerns and necessary follow-up to the supervising academic advisor.
- Assist with the development and coordination of the weekly Class Attendance Monitor schedule.
-Conduct periodic class attendance spot checks to monitor student-athlete attendance and punctuality.
-Provide regular updates to the supervising academic advisor regarding completed tasks, student-athlete interactions, concerns, and items requiring additional follow-up.
-Support daily operations of the Student-Athlete Academic Services center, including special projects, events, assessment efforts, and strategic initiatives that enhance student-athlete success.
-Maintain confidentiality and provide professional level support to student-athletes in accordance ECU, AAC, and NCAA regulations.
-Perform other duties as assigned.
GPA Requirement Minimum of 3.0 Preferred (Majors, Experience, GPA, etc.)
Enrolled as an ECU graduate student eligible for student employment.
Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
-Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and meet work deadlines.
-Must be willing to work early mornings, evenings, and some weekends.
