Job description

General Description The Department of Public Works is seeking a Parking Maintenance Technician to perform varied custodial and maintenance work for all Parking Division facilities. Position will also perform work of routine difficulty in the enforcement of the City's overnight parking ordinance and other Parking ordinances by issuance of parking citations. Work Schedule: Four 10-hour shifts per week from 9:00 p.m

to 7:00 a.m., two weekends on and two weekends off with additional work hours required as needed to cover shift vacancies (40 hours per week). No residency requirement. We invite candidates of all backgrounds and experiences to apply, knowing that unique perspectives enhance our service to the community Examples of Duties Performs maintenance and repair of Parking Access Revenue Control System (PARCS) equipment including entry/exit columns, gates, pay stations, and multi-space meters. Assists the public with PARCS equipment.

Troubleshoots minor elevators issues; completes minor repairs on various small equipment, including snow blowers, lawn mowers, weed eaters, and air compressors. Assists with the installation of specialized equipment. Performs routine cleaning and maintenance of walkways, stair towers, elevators, windows, floors and doors.

Operates enclosed sweeper to clean parking bays and performs minor ramp deck repairs. Changes overhead lights in elevators, stairs towers, offices and storage garages. Installs and maintains signs and clearance bars at the parking ramps.

Completes line painting (striping) at all facilities. Performs snow removal and ice control duties at all Parking Division facilities. Issues citations City-wide for parking violations based upon City ordinance (particularly the overnight parking ordinance), posted signs, private property violations, and vehicle permits.

Gathers and enters vehicle night parking requests into database. Ensures that facilities remain operational 24/7 and assists with security. Assists with directing vehicular traffic, including placing and removing barricades, temporary sign, and meter hooding.

Assists the general public with various requests including vehicle lockouts and accident reports. Maintains inventory as needed including receiving shipments, stocking shelves, loading and unloading inventory, delivery and pick up of items, and maintaining records. Prepares and maintains related records and reports.

Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in security, custodial, maintenance, and repair of Parking Division equipment and facilities.

Valid driver's license and a good driving record. A combination of equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.
