Sports Assistant/Monitor

The Sports Assistant/Monitor is responsible for working closely with the Healthy Living Director on registrations and programing for sports. The Sports Assistant/Monitor is also responsible for overseeing practices, ensuring that all equipment and facilities are set up and maintained properly, and providing assistance to coaches, players, and parents during in season sports. This role requires proactive problem-solving, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and organized environment.

Provide a safe, fun, and secure setting for children to learn in.

Develop and maintain open communication with all parents & staff.

Communicate to Directory of Healthy Living any problems, concerns or suggestions regarding children or classes.

Assist director with registration processes within Daxko Operations Systems.

Keep bulletin board updated with any events and youth programs

Keep accurate inventory of supplies and equipment and notify the director when replacement or repair is necessary.

Keep gyms, seating areas and equipment clean & properly maintained at all times.

Assist with youth special events and coverage of gym supervision.

Pre-Practice Setup:

  • Retrieve supply box for use during practices.
  • Adjust goals to the correct height for each age group.
  • Retrieve and distribute the appropriate size balls to each court
  • Assist with volleyball net set up and tear down.
  • Inspect the gym and surrounding areas to dispose of any trash.

During Practice:

  • Check in with coaches to see if they need any assistance.
  • Administer first aid supplies as needed and complete incident reports for anything other than minor cuts.
  • Answer any questions from parents or others; if unsure of an answer, consult the front desk or collect the person's name and number for follow-up.
  • Monitor practice activities, ensuring that only players and coaches are on the court during practices and keeping all other individuals off the court.

Between Practices:

  • Switch out balls for the next group and store the unused balls properly.
  • Adjust goal heights as required for the next practice.
  • Dispose of any trash and ensure the gym remains clean and organized.

Post-Practice Duties:

  • Collect and neatly store all balls.
  • Clean up any trash left in the gym, including checking bleachers and benches.
  • Dry mop the gym floor to ensure cleanliness for the next practice or event.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Must be at least 16 years of age.

Ability to work independently and follow instructions.

Must be able to lift and carry sports equipment as needed.

CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required.

Bloodborne Pathogens and Child Abuse Prevention training required within 30 days of hire.

Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Mature judgment and ability to communicate effectively with staff, children & parents. Must relate well to people and be very outgoing and energetic.

Ability to perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Flexible schedule depending on practice times, including evenings and weekends.
