Designer
Position Summary
The Designer is responsible for selecting and specifying construction projects from initial design through to order entry and the construction process. This is accomplished by working closely with Falkbuilt HQ and local branch teams (Falkbuilt Greater Montreal |Ottawa). The designer will interpret architectural designs as specified within project sketches, architectural drawings, or models and realize those designs in both 2D and 3D formats.
What You’ll Do
  • Select and specify all the components and requirements to assemble functional Falk work environments according to customer needs by using Revit with a Falkbuilt-specific add-in to draft design drawings, including renderings, 3D models, flythroughs, and submittal drawings.
  • Help define project scope and objectives with all relevant stakeholders and ensure technical feasibility.
  • Manage and execute design assignments promptly and meet milestones and deadlines. Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Ensure up-to-date knowledge of Falk products by following necessary training sessions including on-site training with the manufacturer and Revit upgrades.
  • Evaluate site conditions and constraints for construction projects.
  • Have a strong sense of the Falkbuilt culture and promote it internally and externally.

Essential Functions
  • The Designer has a high level of accountability because they make decisions that affect product selection and assembly requirements to meet the client requirements. The consequences of their decisions have a major impact on the project viability, costs, and the company’s and manufacturer’s image.

  • Experience with Revit required - SketchUp, Enscape, and Microsoft Office Suite experience preferred
  • Experience reviewing submittal drawing packages for architectural coordination
  • Experience translating sketches and CAD/Revit documents into realized 3D models and images
  • 2 to 5 years in Construction industry, with experience in modular furniture, and with FALK
  • CEGEP or trade school degree or diploma in Interior Design, Architecture, or Design

Requirements
  • Bilingual, French and English
  • Strong verbal and oral communication skills
  • A creative self-starter with the ability to solve problems individually and as part of a team
  • Aptitude with technology and willingness to learn and improve every day
  • Hands-on experience w/ Revit – Enscape, SketchUp, and AutoCAD a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and willingness to learn Project Management software and other technologies to enhance our client experience
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple fast-paced projects
  • Ability to read construction documents and specifications
  • Experience using Revit/design drawing logic to create an architectural construction set including floor plans, elevations, electrical plans, architectural details, door & finish schedules.
  • Strong understanding of the construction process and job site conditions
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work closely with all the stakeholders and Falkers (in your Branch and at HQ) and ensure the client has a positive experience with us
