Job description

Position SummaryThe Senior Interior Designer manages the full lifecycle of interior design projects across a multifamily residential portfolio, from initial site assessment through final installation. Projects may include leasing offices, model units, clubhouses, amenity and community spaces, renovations, and new construction.  The position requires strong technical skills in CAD and construction documentation, along with procurement expertise and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Working closely with leadership and the Design & Construction team, the Senior Interior Designer develops space concepts, produces construction documents, and coordinates procurement from concept through installation.  A successful Senior Interior Designer demonstrates integrity, accountability, and professionalism while collaborating with teammates, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders. This individual take pride in delivering quality work, embraces continuous improvement, and provides a high level of service in support of company goals and project success.Primary Responsibilities
  • Coordinates a complete and thorough set of Interior design construction documents in addition to finish index specs and detailed scopes of work
  • Oversee all aspects of FF&E procurement, including vendor sourcing, purchase order management, inventory tracking, delivery and installation
  • Source product through contract and hospitality trade accounts and dealer networks; negotiate pricing and maintain active vendor accounts
  • Conduct initial site visits to document existing conditions; produce accurate as-built floor plans from field measurements
  • Develop space plans and new layout concepts based on project goals, operational needs, and stakeholder input
  • Prepare and present design proposals to leadership using CAD, SketchUp, PowerPoint and other presentation tools; incorporate feedback through multiple revision rounds
  • Build and manage project budgets following design approval, ensuring alignment with project objectives and financial expectations
  • Partner with Project Managers, contractors, and internal stakeholders during the construction phase by assisting with RFIs, change order reviews, design clarifications, and project documentation
  • Support project close-out activities including punch list review, final walkthroughs, installation coordination, and final project documentation
  • Design model units that balance aesthetic quality, functionality, and leasing performance
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of property design standards and guidelines to support consistency across the portfolio
  • Maintain organized project records and documentation, ensuring project decisions, approvals, and key details are appropriately documented and communicated
  • Work closely with Design & Construction teammates, Project Managers, contractors, vendors, and property leadership to maintain project alignment and support successful execution throughout all phases of a project
  • Actively participate in a positive team environment through teamwork, communication and excellence in service
  • Actively demonstrate the values of the Weidner Customer Service Vision to team members, associates and external customers

Qualifications
  • 7-10 years of commercial interior design experience, with demonstrated experience managing projects from concept through installation; Background with a commercial design firm or large multifamily or hospitality operator
  • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field
  • Active interior design licensure (NCIDQ) required, or demonstrated progress toward certification
  • Advanced AutoCAD knowledge required; Revit experience highly preferred
  • Bluebeam Revu proficiency for construction document markup, RFI management, and drawing set review
  • Advanced knowledge of interiors and design concepts, practices and methods.
  • Strong working knowledge of building codes, ADA requirements, and life-safety standards
  • High level experience FF&E selection and procurement 
  • Installation coordination experience, including delivery, staging, and final placement on-site 
  • Experienced in Microsoft Excel for budget tracking, order management, and contractor scheduling; Office Suite, SketchUp and other rendering tools preferred
  • Skilled in assisting with RFIs and change orders during active construction phases
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable receiving and incorporating feedback

  • Maintain regular attendance, comply with company dress code standards, and a professional appearance at all times
  • Ability to confidently represent the Design & Construction department in the field
  • Ability to travel approximately 30% of the time for site visits, property walkthroughs, installations, and trade shows
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance required
