Position Overview

Lead Electrical Designer supporting EPC project design work for power generation projects. Responsible for managing a design team in the development of electrical raceway systems. Interfaces with other disciplines, engineering and construction throughout the life of the project. Manages budget schedules and resources. Our staff leads and collaborates with Kiewit's construction teams to approach construction-drive engineering with a focus on safe, cost effective, and innovative designs that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit's legacy of excellence.

We are a high performing team of engineers and designers that develop projects through the project life-cycle engaging exciting projects throughout North America. Our staff leads the power markets engineering process and collaborates with Kiewit's construction teams to approach construction-driven engineering with a focus on safe, cost-effective, and innovative designs that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit's legacy of excellence.

Location

This position can be based in any of the following office locations: Lenexa, KS; Lone Tree, CO; Houston, TX; Raleigh, NC; Phoenix/Tempe, AZ; New York City, NY; or Woodcliff Lake, NJ.

For roles in Chattanooga, TN; Detroit, MI; or Richmond, VA, the position will start remotely and transition to a hybrid/in office arrangement once the new office is established. 

Responsibilities

Responsible for managing a group of electrical designers in the development of electrical raceway systems

Responsible for managing electrical design activities against project schedule and budget

Tracks and reports on design progression to project management and other members of the project

Completes monthly reports for quantities, schedule and forecasting

Interface with construction to ensure design is safe, constructible, and low cost

Coordinates with other disciplines, engineers and construction on the design

Ability to check design deliverables for accuracy, quality and adherence to department standards

Utilize applicable engineering national and local codes

Coordinates with project team by utilizing the Project Database: Request for Review Process, Holds List, ECN, Request for information from other disciplines, and all other applicable functions

Completes miscellaneous tasks to support project development

Acts as a field resource to assist construction in field resolution on issues

Mentors design team

Qualifications

At least 8 years' experience in electrical design

Experience leading electrical design teams

Experience managing budget and schedule

Power generation experience, preferred

Experience in SmartPlant 3D

Must be able to conceptualize in a 3D environment.

Ability to work in a growing, adaptive and multi-discipline team environment

Ability to work independently with limited direction and oversight

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Base Compensation: $107,000/yr - $112,000/yr 
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
