These skills ensure productivity, customer satisfaction, and the ability to balance work with other commitments during weekend shifts.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working weekend side jobs, and how can they be managed?

Professionals working weekend side jobs often face challenges such as balancing their primary job or personal commitments with additional weekend hours, adapting to flexible or shifting schedules, and managing fatigue from extended workweeks. Here, hospitality is personal, teamwork is real, and people genuinely look out for one another. When you join our team, you're stepping into a workplace where you can learn, grow, and take pride in creating memorable moments across the entire property. We bring energy, heart, and professionalism to everything we do, by building not only unforgettable guest experiences, but a workplace we're proud to call our own.

Be part of a team that's shaping one of the premier destinations for gaming and hospitality. A place where guests and team members alike feel right at home on Oregon's beautiful southern coast and beyond.

Why this job matters

Bring energy, personality, and exceptional service to Plank House Restaurant and Ko-Kwel Spirits by crafting great drinks, creating memorable moments, and ensuring every guest feels welcome from the first pour to the last goodbye. The Distillery/Restaurant Bartender delivers exceptional guest service while representing the Ko-Kwel Spirits brand. This role blends high-end mixology and hospitality with brand education, offering guests handcrafted cocktails, curated spirit tastings, and memorable experiences that showcase our culture and craftmanship. In addition to preparing beverages this position actively promotes and sells Cask Club memberships, building brand loyalty and driving guest engagement. The bartender serves as both an ambassador for the distillery and a key contributor to the overall guest experience.

What you bring to the table
  • Make sure the space stays safe, clean, and friendly for both guests and the rest of the team; speak up and report any safety concerns to the Safety Committee.
  • Serve up signature cocktails, cold brews, and delicious bites while fostering a lively, welcoming bar and lounge atmosphere.
  • Conduct guided tastings of Ko-Kwel Spirits products, providing educational and engaging storytelling about the distillation process, flavor profiles and brand heritage.
  • Actively promote and sell Cask Club memberships, sharing detailed knowledge of the program and its benefits.
  • Create and serve signature cocktails and spirit flights that highlight the distillery's portfolio.
  • Demonstrate a deep menu knowledge and assist with recommendations, pairings, and upselling of Ko-Kwel Spirits.
  • Maintain speed, accuracy and consistency during high-volume or peak service periods.
  • Confidently open and close the bar/tasting room, ensuring everything runs smoothly and all side work is completed with care.
  • Prioritize guest safety by practicing responsible alcohol service and staying alert to guest awareness at all times while keeping communication open with teammates and supervisors.
  • Protect the trust of both guests and team members by upholding confidentiality at all times.
  • Jump in where needed to support the team and keep things running smoothly. (Other duties as assigned)
Must-haves, nice-to-haves, and maybe some bonus points
  • Friendly and approachable attitude that helps guests (and the team) feel welcome and cared for every day.
  • Experience helpful but not required. Previous experience in hospitality field with demonstrated excellent customer service ability.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend verbal and written instructions.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Must have valid OLCC permit and working knowledge of OLCC regulations.
  • Must have a food handler's card and meet health, safety and sanitation standards at all times.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully navigate the point-of-sale system and accurately manage a cash bank, credit card activity, and balance with corresponding paperwork at the end of your shift.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform your duties with a minimum of supervision and handle multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Comfortable communicating clearly and positively with both guests and teammates.
  • Must pass and remain in compliance with Coquille Gaming Commission background check and drug free workplace policies.
Physical stuff to know

We've included the typical physical parts of the job here. If you need an accommodation to do the work, just let us know-we're here to support you.ย You'll need to be available to work weekends, holidays, and evenings when we are busy. During your shift, you'll be on your feet standing for extended periods, and frequently walk, and use your hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and be able to understand how to use equipment to safely maneuver a full keg of beer, carry cases of bottled beer with a hand truck, bend, twist, reach and otherwise be physically limber as duties necessitate.
