Job description

America's second oldest horse racing track, the Fair Grounds has been a New Orleans staple since 1852. We are a premiere entertainment venue presenting thoroughbred & exotic animal races, slots, video poker and simulcasting year-round. Located in New Orleans, Fair Grounds operates a slot-machine gaming facility and 13 off-track betting parlors throughout southeast Louisiana.

JOB SUMMARY

Security Officers protects the property from vandalism, theft and other illegal activity. Officers may do this while patrolling the grounds or while stationed at a stationery position. Casino security officers also protect the casino funds/money during transport through various destinations.  Officer(s) must enforce all safety and security protocol related to slots, racing or backside operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Safeguards the company’s assets.
  • Maintains security in the entire slot facility during assigned shift.
  • Oversees guest and employee safety.
  • Enforces the company’s policies and procedures.
  • Prepares Guest Accident Reports and Security Incident Reports.
  • Escorts, coins, and cash.
  • Escorts company personnel, as needed, into and from secured areas.
  • Collects and transport drop boxes to storage area.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be 21 years or older. You must have the ability to obtain a Gaming License issued by the Louisiana State Police and must have a valid Driver’s License.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Two years of experience preferred. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several variables. Ability to read, analyze and interpret common documentation. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies or members of staff. Ability to write and present information to management in a reasonable manner. Ability to perform normal mathematical computations in regard to the implementation of current duties.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

Constant motion, sit, hear and eye/hand coordination; frequently speak, read, write, stand, walk, bend and stoop; occasionally lift, carry, push and pull. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk. The employee frequently is also required to stand, walk and reach with arms and hands, bend and can lift at least 25 pounds. Office/Casino environment; Subject to outdoor temperature/climate conditions such as cold/weather, rain/snow or heat; Exposed to smoke bright lights and noise at times. The work environment consists of very non-demanding surroundings with a low noise level.
