Software Engineer (JAVA Software Administrator), IS&T Enterprise Systems

Enterprise Systems is part of IS&T and owns the technology behind Apple's SAP environment and its modernization through the SAP Landscape Modernization (SLM) initiative. The team manages the continuous operation, maintenance, and evolution of the world's largest single-instance SAP deployment — a platform that sustains Apple's global supply chain and the integrity of its core financial systems. The team is the technical owner of SAP landscapes, responsible for system scalability, availability, performance, infrastructure security, and software life‑cycle management.

Description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic team player to join our team as a Java Software Administrator. In this role, you will be required to provide optimal solutions for a complex and integrated landscape. Responsibilities

• Monitor enterprise vulnerability and security management tools.
• Coordinate remediation activities with Infrastructure, Application, and Information Security teams.
• Track remediation progress and support compliance timelines and audit requirements.
• Assist with patch coordination, operational reviews, and security reporting activities.
• Prepare dashboards, operational metrics, and management status reports.
• Maintain documentation and support compliance evidence collection.
• Support daily operations of the enterprise workload automation environment.
• Assist with job scheduling, monitoring, agent support, and application onboarding activities.
• Troubleshoot scheduling and batch processing issues and support incident resolution efforts.
• Coordinate operational activities with Application Development and Production Support teams.
• Maintain operational runbooks and support documentation.
• Support platform upgrades, patching, and change implementation activities alongside the central platform team.
• Monitor application health, operational alerts, and batch processing performance.
• Support issue triage, escalation, and operational follow‑up activities.
• Assist with operational health reviews and reporting activities.
• Identify recurring operational issues and support process improvement activities.
• Work with support teams to improve monitoring visibility and application stability.
• Develop lightweight Python scripts and utilities to automate repetitive operational tasks.
• Support reporting automation and REST API integrations where applicable.
• Assist with documentation updates and operational process improvements.
• Participate in production support coordination activities.

Minimum Qualifications

• 4 years of experience in Java and Java Enterprise technology applications architecture, design, development and support.
• 4 years of experience in designing and developing scalable enterprise level back end solutions.
• 4 years of experience in hands‑on programming experience in Java, Spring, multi‑threading, REST, Data Caching Services, DB schema design and data access technologies.
• 4 years of experience in rolling out distributed, large‑scale, low latency web applications.
• 4 years of experience with automated CI/CD pipelines to facilitate rapid and reliable software releases.
• 4 years of experience in creating and managing infrastructure using tools like Terraform or Ansible to ensure consistent and scalable environments.
• 4 years of experience with web service tools such as Apache Tomcat, Kafka.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).

Preferred Qualifications

• 4 years of experience in crafting and architecting distributed systems, concurrent programming, and coding data structures.
• Understand security concepts and build reliable and safe distributed applications.
• Experience working with Oracle/HANA databases is a plus.
• Familiarity with security tools such as vulnerability scanners, code analysis tools, and intrusion detection systems.
• Ability to take ownership of work activities and take them to conclusion in a timely and efficient manner.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with technical and non‑technical multi‑functional teams across regions.
• Ability to successfully multi‑task and support multiple, concurrent projects.
