Job description

Join a collaborative, high-acuity surgical team where your skills are valued, your role is hands-on, and your impact is immediate. Bon Secours is seeking an experienced Cardiac Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our high-performing Cardiovascular Surgery team, providing both inpatient and outpatient coverage across St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, VA, and Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville, VA.

This advanced practice role supports adult cardiac surgery patients throughout the entire continuum of care, from preoperative evaluation through postoperative recovery and follow-up. Position Details Schedule: 4 days/week Call: 1:6 Weekend rounding First call Friday 5:00 PM - Monday 7:00 AM Practice Setting: Inpatient hospital coverage and outpatient clinic Split coverage between St. Mary's Hospital (Richmond) and Memorial Regional Medical Center (Mechanicsville) Patient Volume: 5-10 patients per day (ages 21+) Procedures: Chest tube and pacing wire removal Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) management Professional Growth: Opportunities for continued education Participation in innovative and evolving cardiac surgery techniques Key Responsibilities Preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative management of cardiac surgery patients Perform comprehensive physical examinations Order, interpret, and act upon diagnostic studies Manage postoperative recovery and longitudinal care plans Educate patients and families across inpatient and outpatient settings Participate in ERAS protocols and quality improvement initiatives Requirements Active Virginia APRN license with AGACNP certification OR Active Virginia PA license with NCCPA certification Minimum 1 year of cardiac surgery experience as an NP or PA preferred Benefits & Compensation Comprehensive Benefits Package includes: Medical, Dental, Vision, and Prescription Drug coverage Life Insurance options Short- and Long-Term Disability Insurance Wellness Program Flexible Spending Account (FSA) and Health Savings Account (HSA) Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) eligible employer Generous Paid Time Off plus Holidays Competitive compensation Relocation assistance Annual CME allowance of $3,000 Region: Richmond is more than just the state capital and a hub for history; the city is also well-known for its long-standing art culture, up-and-coming food scene, and breweries that top national lists.
