Job description

We are seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join the team at Polara Health, where our mission is to provide accessible, compassionate whole person care that strengthens our community.
We have RN shifts available on day shift (7 am to 7:30 pm) or night shift (7 pm to 7:30 am). Full time RNs work three 12-hour shifts per week and part time RNs work one or two 12-hour shifts per week.
We offer a competitive base rate plus a shift differential for nights, weekends, and holidays. Full time employees are eligible for our comprehensive benefits package, which includes options for company paid medical and dental plans.

POSITION SUMMARY
As an Inpatient Psychiatric RN, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive care and support to patients with mental health disorders within our inpatient unit. You will be responsible for conducting assessments, developing and implementing individualized care plans, administering medications, monitoring patients' progress, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic care.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients upon admission, including physical and mental health evaluations.
• Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans based on patients' needs, diagnoses, and treatment goals.
• Administer medications and monitor their effectiveness, ensuring accurate dosage, documentation, and adherence to prescribed protocols.
• Provide direct patient care, including monitoring vital signs, managing crisis situations, and promoting a therapeutic environment.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, therapists, and case managers, to coordinate patient care and treatment plans.
• Monitor and evaluate patients' progress, documenting observations and reporting changes in their condition to the healthcare team.
• Facilitate and participate in therapeutic groups and activities, promoting patients' engagement and skill-building.
• Educate patients and their families on mental health disorders, medications, self-care strategies, and community resources.
• Adhere to professional nursing standards, ethical guidelines, and regulatory requirements, including The Joint Commission accreditation standards.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, care provided, and progress notes.
• Continuously assesses the health status of the client/family.
• Continuously assesses the acuity of each client and the entire unit in order to ensure patient and unit safety.
• Develops an individualized treatment plan for each client prioritizing needs, setting goals, and determining nursing interventions to achieve those goals.
• Implements nursing interventions and carries out physician orders appropriately according to the client's individualized needs and plan of care.
• Continuously evaluates client's/family's response to care and modifies treatment plan and interventions accordingly.
• Directs the daily activities of the nursing staff in carrying out client care.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
• 21 years of age or older; or minimum 18 years old and licensed or certified under A.R.S. Title 32 and providing services within the personnel member's scope of practice; or minimum 18 years old for select administrative positions
• Must be able to provide or obtain an AZDPS Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Must possess a valid Driver License
  • CPI and CPR/First Aid certification required (training provided by Polara Health)
  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Arizona.
  • 2 years of experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders, psychopharmacology, and evidence-based nursing interventions.
  • Excellent assessment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in complex situations.
  • Proficient in administering medications and managing potential side effects and adverse reactions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Compassionate and non-judgmental approach in providing patient-centered care.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems and basic computer skills.
