Job description

Registered Nurse (RN) – Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) with Trach/Vent Experience

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in an Long Term Acute Care (LTAC) hospital setting. This role requires experience in caring for patients with tracheostomies and ventilators, alongside general rehab nursing duties. The RN will provide direct patient care, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and support patients in regaining independence and improving quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients recovering from surgery, illness, or injury.

  • Manage patients with tracheostomy and ventilator support, including suctioning, monitoring, and emergency response.

  • Assess patient conditions and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians and therapists.

  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, and monitor for effectiveness and side effects.

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) and mobility support.

  • Educate patients and families on rehabilitation goals, respiratory care, and discharge planning.

  • Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records.

  • Collaborate with respiratory therapists and other specialists to ensure safe and effective ventilator management.

  • Adhere to infection control protocols and hospital safety standards.

  • Participate in team meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education.

Qualifications:
  • Current and valid RN license in the state of practice.

  • Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.

  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience in acute care or respiratory nursing.

  • Experience with trach and ventilator care is required.

  • BLS/ACLS certification required; CRRN preferred.

  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
