Job Duties

This is a part time position that works every Friday and Saturday 11:00pm - 7:00am.
Expectations are clear, well communicated, and related to the goals and objectives of the department or unit. Staff receives frequent, constructive feedback, including interim evaluations as appropriate. Counsel as indicated and formulate employee progress plan. If employee is unable to meet standard consider extending probationary period. The requirements of the performance planning and evaluation system are met and evaluations are completed by established deadlines with proper documentation. Performance issues are addressed and documented as they occur. Safety issues are reviewed and communicated to assure a safe and healthy workplace.
Participates in formulating, interpreting and implementing department objectives providing quality resident care in compliance with established guidelines and regulations. Review effectiveness of resident care plans, department and facility administrative policies and procedures. Receive and give daily reports, make rounds, and conduct unit surveys and audits. Initiate, coordinate, or recommend corrective action to resolve observed or reported resident care, procedural, or physical problems. In the absence of the DON the Nursing Supervisor will be responsible for Administrative and operational decisions of the facility. Coordinate with physicians and ancillary departments in assessment of resident needs and treatments. Required to make immediate operational decisions regarding emergency care and resolving department staffing problems. May function as a Charge Nurse if necessary.
Enforce safety rules and regulations and assure that all work related incidents are reported and investigated in a timely and accurate manner. Initiate or recommend appropriate corrective action necessary to avoid recurrence. Maintain a clean, safe, orderly work area throughout the facility.
Evaluate and adjust staffing resources as needed. Monitor and evaluate performance of all nursing staff during tours of duty. May initiate informal or formal counseling of staff and indicate or recommend discipline, promotion, transfer, salary adjustments, or other personnel transactions as authorized. May participate in grievance process and provide written response as authorized by the facility policy. Communicate with staffing agency representation when necessary.
Attends Nurse Management and other meetings as assigned. Communicates changes in policy and procedures and discusses department concerns/priorities with subordinates. Keep informed of new nursing care methods, equipment, etc. Assist in the identification of department training needs, orient and train employees as needed.
Performs other duties as may be assigned that are within the Nursing department's mission and as situations warrant in meeting the overall needs of the facility.
May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

Minimum Qualifications

Supervisory experience. Experience in Geriatrics and In-Service Education.
