Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Shift: 12H Nights; Weekend Nights (Friday and Saturday)

Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week

Experience: Minimum 2 years

License: Required

Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Must-Have: Must have experience in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP). Must be comfortable attending deliveries independently and circulating in C-sections. Must be comfortable assisting with catching the baby and transitioning the baby. Must be able to titrate drips including Magnesium, Pitocin, and Insulin.

Description: This is a Labor and Delivery unit providing care for patients with complex conditions. The unit has a total of 34 beds with 2 operating rooms dedicated to C-sections and 14 postpartum beds. On average, there are 150-180 births per month, amounting to approximately 2,133 deliveries in the previous year. Ratios are 1:2 for Labor and Delivery and 1:3-4 for couplets. The team follows AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios. A surgical tech is available 24/7, as well as a patient care assistant with clerical duties on each shift. There is an in-house Client/hospitalist available 24/7, assisting with patient triage and emergencies. Neonatal Nurse Practitioners (NNPs) are also present in the nursery at all times. Anesthesia services are available on-site 24/7. The unit is equipped for respiratory therapy, including vents and CPAP/BiPap machines. Telemetry is monitored, and RNs are expected to read their own strips. Self-scheduling and block scheduling are options available upon request. Weekend requirements include every other weekend, with rotating holiday requirements. Travelers are integrated into the team and need to function in both Labor and Delivery and postpartum care consistently. Scrubs are provided for all staff members. Adaptability to workflows, policies, and feedback is essential for all staff members.
