Tax Manager / Sr. Tax Manager - Renewable Energy
Cherry Bekaert Recruiting & Staffing is partnered with a well-established renewable energy developer, owner, and operator managing a national portfolio of energy projects. This organization operates across multiple markets and manages the full lifecycle of its projects offering strong exposure to complex, deal-driven environments.
Title: Tax Manager / Senior Tax Manager
Compensation: $150K-$165K base + bonus
Location: Remote (Arlington, VA)
Position Overview
This is a highly visible, strategic role overseeing the company's tax function. The position is less focused on preparation and more centered on ownership, coordination, and advisory across complex multi-entity tax matters.
Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee federal, state, and local tax filings prepared by external providers (review, validate, and manage deliverables)
  • Serve as internal lead across renewable energy tax matters, including tax credits and compliance requirements
  • Partner with accounting and finance teams to ensure accurate reporting and compliance
  • Lead tax research efforts and interpret evolving regulatory guidance
  • Support executive-level decision-making through technical memos and recommendations
  • Manage relationships with external advisors, including accounting firms and legal counsel
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA strongly preferred)
  • 5-8+ years of relevant tax experience (public accounting and/or industry)
  • Strong experience across federal, state, and local tax in multi-entity environments
  • Required: Renewable energy tax experience (ITC, PWA, FEOC, etc.)
  • Experience with partnership structures and multi-state operations
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, research-driven environment
