Job description

Piedmont Global, a language services provider supporting organizations across the public and private sectors, is expanding its network of professional interpreters in Spokane, WA, and surrounding areas.

We are looking for bilingual and multilingual professionals interested in supporting meaningful communication through on-site (OSI), video remote (VRI), and over-the-phone (OPI) interpretation assignments. Whether you're an experienced interpreter or a bilingual professional with relevant interpreting experience looking to expand your opportunities, we'd love to hear from you.

We welcome interpreters across all languages, with current demand for: Marshallese, Spanish, Russian, Karen, Burmese, Pashto, Dari, Kinyarwanda, Haitian Creole, Swahili, Vietnamese, Arabic, Ukrainian, Tigrinya, Turkish, Mandarin, Chuukese, Punjabi, Bosnian, Amharic, Albanian, Thai, Laotian, Tagalog, Portuguese, and more.

Engagement Type: Independent Contractor (1099)
Location: Spokane, WA, and surrounding areas

Interpreter Functions
  • Facilitate clear and accurate communication between English speakers and speakers of your target language.
  • Interpret conversations without additions, omissions, or changes to the speaker's intended meaning.
  • Preserve the meaning, tone, and intent of the original communication.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and applicable interpreting standards.
  • Communicate proactively about any circumstances that may affect an assignment.






Requirements

  • Professional proficiency in English and your target language.
  • Demonstrated experience in paid or volunteer interpreting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid government-issued identification.
  • Reliable access to the Internet and a mobile phone.
  • Ability to commute to assignment locations when accepting on-site work.
  • Ability to provide professional references related to your interpreting experience.

Preferred, but Not Required
  • Interpreter certification or professional interpreter training.
  • Language proficiency or interpreter assessment results.
  • Relevant interpreting certificates or diplomas.
  • Additional professional interpreting experience or credentials.
  • Interpreters of all languages and backgrounds who meet the core qualifications are encouraged to apply.
