What You Will Do:

  • Lead and support a team of ROC Controllers to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant day-to-day operations of renewable generation assets, acting as the primary escalation point for complex or abnormal events.

  • Independently manage high-risk, non-routine operational scenarios requiring expert knowledge of renewable generation, grid reliability, and control room operations.

  • Coordinate and prioritize real-time controller activities to respond effectively to alarms, outages, grid instructions, and weather-driven events.

  • Ensure strict adherence to North American Electric Reliability Corp (NERC) reliability standards, Independent System Operators / Regional Transmission Organizations (ISO/RTO) requirements, and internal procedures, including documentation, communications, and event reporting.

  • Communicate complex operational updates clearly to internal stakeholders, site teams, and external grid operators, especially during critical or time-sensitive situations.

  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of control room procedures, tools, and operational best practices.

Who You Are:

  • A technical professional with a degree or diploma (or equivalent experience) in engineering, business, or a related field.

  • Experienced in a 24/7 control room or renewable operations environment, with at least 5 years in a similar operational role.

  • Highly knowledgeable in power generation, transmission/distribution systems, renewable technologies, and grid operations.

  • Skilled in Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, alarm management, data acquisition, and performance monitoring tools used in power generation environments.

  • Comfortable operating in highly regulated environments, with a strong understanding of NERC standards, International Organization for Standardization (ISO) market rules, and compliance requirements.

  • A strong communicator and problem-solver with the ability to lead through complex operational scenarios and collaborate across technical and cross-functional teams.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily office-based within a Remote Operations Centre (ROC) environment.

  • Standard schedule is Monday to Friday, with on-call expectations and the flexibility to respond to operational needs outside normal hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Occasional travel within Canada and the United States to support coordination with internal stakeholders and site teams.

  • Work involves monitoring real-time operations and responding to time-sensitive, high-impact events in a fast-paced environment.
