Position Summary
Updike Distribution Logistics is seeking a reliable and motivated
Material Handler to support our fast-paced warehouse operations. This role is responsible for receiving, processing, sorting, and organizing packages while ensuring accuracy, safety, and efficiency in daily operations. The Material Handler plays a key role in maintaining workflow, supporting drivers, and contributing to overall operational success in a 24/7 distribution environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive inbound freight and verify shipments for accuracy and condition
- Process, scan, and sort packages using handheld RF scanners
- Organize and stage materials for outbound distribution
- Sort and handle packages weighing up to 50 lbs
- Assist with loading and unloading trailers as needed (Pallet jack, or by hand)
- Check in drivers and support them in locating and staging assigned materials
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, drivers, and team members to ensure smooth operations
- Support operational needs in a fast-paced, high-volume setting
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Frequent bending, lifting, reaching, and carrying
- Regularly lift and move packages up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures
Qualifications
- Previous warehouse, distribution, or logistics experience preferred
- Experience using handheld scanners or warehouse management systems preferred
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Dependable with strong attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to pass a background check
Schedule & Compensation
- 24/7 operation - schedule to be determined
- Evenings and Overnight shifts ONLY
- Weekend Availability required
- Starting pay: $17.00 per hour
