This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company's locations: Maverick Golf and Ranch Club, set outside of Fort Worth, TX.
Maverick Golf and Ranch Club is seeking an Equipment Operator to join the Golf Course Maintenance Department.
The Equipment Operator, under the supervision of the Director of Agronomy, performs all aspects of golf course maintenance, and will be a key component to the success of the golf course construction and grow in. The nature of the work will involve the use of large and small equipment including tractors, loaders, backhoes, mowers, string trimmers, hedgers, and all other maintenance equipment. In addition to equipment operation, the work will require detailed hand work and manual labor. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.
Key Responsibilities
• Operates all types of turfgrass management equipment including utility vehicles, reel and rotary movers, flymos, mechanical bunker rakes, aerifiers, sprayers, turf vacs, skid steers, and sprayers.
• Mows greens, tees, fairways and rough with walk and riding mowers.
• Performs hand trimming and detail work on various areas of the golf course.
• Performs renovations and construction work, i.e. shoveling and raking.
• Performs cleaning procedures and manual labor tasks.
• Excavates and back fills ditches and trenches with hand tools.
• Lays and hand waters sod, installs plant material and mulch.
• Participates in annual over-seeding of the golf course.
• Assists in construction of new greens, tees and fairways.
• Cleans drains and culverts.
• Sweeps cart paths.
• Cultivates and waters trees and plants.
• Performs other related groundwork as required.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Drivers License.
• Prior experience working on a golf course maintenance team is preferred.
• Knowledge of large and small engine operation.
• Knowledge of hydraulic powered machine operation.
Additional Requirements
• Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
• Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
