Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for transporting patients by wheelchair or stretcher to and from Imaging Services Department. Assist the front desk as needed. Other duties as assigned by Director and/or Lead tech.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provides high quality patient care by maintaining the safety, comfort and dignity of the patient at all times

2. Provides appropriate care to condition and age of the patient, including: pediatric,

geriatric and general population

3. Demonstrate proper respect, attitude, courtesy, professionalism and communication

skills towards patients, staff, co-workers, doctors, administration personnel.

4. Treats patients with care as to confidentiality and rights

5. Transport patients to and from Imaging Services Department

6. Must have knowledge of hospital policies and functions of the other departments

7. Assists in maneuvering the portable radiology equipment

8. Helps maintain the equipment and assists in cleaning the department, except for those

duties pertaining directly to the Environmental Services personnel.

9. Participates in hospital’s QAPI, safety and infection control studies as assigned

10. May be required to vary shifts and /or weekend rotation as the needs of the

department dictate. Occasionally may require overtime

11. Performs other assigned duties as required

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Understand and use scientific and technical language and symbols.

2. Recognize slight differences in shape, color, and texture.

3. Use eyes, hands, and fingers to operate delicate and sensitive equipment.

4. Work precisely and accurately.

5. Follow technical instructions which may be oral, written, or in the form of charts or

drawings.

6. Use measurable and verifiable information for making decisions or judgments.

7. Adheres to policy and procedures as set forth by the hospital.

8. Maintains confidentiality of patient information.

9. Assists patients and their families in their needs.

10. Work fast in an emergency.

11. Ability to multitask.

12. Record information accurately.

13. Must be acquainted with local fire and safety regulations.

14. Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Heavy work: Exerting over 100 pounds of force frequently, Requires walking or standing to a significant degree and requires sitting a minimal amount of time.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Inside: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

Hazards:

Subject to exposure to electrical and radiant energy hazards.

QUALIFICATION:

To do this job, you must have the following amount of total education and/or experience:

Education:

- Must have an High School Diploma or GED

Experience and Training:

Minimum one year of experience in hospital setting preferred.
