Location: Elkhart, IN - Beacon Health System
Compensation & Incentives:
  • Sign-On Bonus: $10,000 one-time (not base pay)
  • Shift Differential: 8% premium on applicable shifts

Position Summary:
Beacon Health System is seeking a Radiology Technologist to join our imaging team in Elkhart, Indiana. This role operates diagnostic imaging equipment, including CT and fluoroscopy, to produce high-quality images for physician diagnosis. The Radiographer communicates procedures to patients, ensures their physical and psychological comfort, and works under the direction of the Coordinator/Director and Radiologists.

Procedures and Examinations
  • Perform radiology procedures according to physician orders and departmental protocols
  • Evaluate radiographs for technical quality to ensure accurate diagnosis
  • Exhibit skilled positioning techniques in complex situations (trauma, surgical, immobile patients)
  • Consult with physicians for correct imaging levels
  • Optimize images while minimizing radiation exposure (Boost, Pulse, Protocol Selection)
  • Prepare sterile setups for fluoroscopy procedures per AORN Standards
  • Turn over procedure rooms promptly using approved cleansing agents
Image Management / Record Keeping
  • Obtain accurate patient histories and document appropriately
  • Verify patient exam charges and update as needed (credit, cancel, revise, add)
  • Enter procedural information into the Radiology Information System (RIS) timely
  • Ensure images are properly filed in PACS and correct issues when necessary
  • Enter patient information accurately into the C-arm system
  • Print images and charts for patients or clinical use
Equipment Operation / Room Responsibility
  • Recognize and troubleshoot equipment problems; report for repair as needed
  • Operate all diagnostic imaging equipment safely
  • Maintain clean and sanitary examination rooms
  • Follow hospital radiation safety regulations; wear and submit radiation badges monthly
  • Orient new staff and students to equipment and work areas
Organizational Responsibilities
  • Attend department meetings and participate fully in shared information
  • Complete mandatory education, annual competencies, and department-specific training
  • Maintain licenses and certifications (ARRT or ARRT-eligible, State Certification, CPR/BCLS)
  • Follow universal precautions and ergonomic standards
  • Comply with regulatory requirements, surveys, and internal policies
  • Be available for overtime, additional shifts, and on-call responsibilities

Education and Experience
  • Graduate of an AMA-accredited Radiography Program
  • Required: ARRT certification (or ARRT-eligible), Indiana State 'General Certification', CPR/BCLS
  • No previous experience required; all levels of experience welcome
  • Completion of CR Specialist Manual within 120 days (full/part-time) or 6 months if PRN
Knowledge & Skills
  • Skilled in positioning, technique, film critique, and departmental protocols
  • Proficient in Computed Radiography, PACS, RIS, Clinical View, and Radiology Department networking
  • Excellent teaching skills for instructing radiology students and supporting the team
  • Knowledge of radiation protection and safety protocols for patients and staff
Working Conditions & Physical Demands
  • Must be able to respond to call within 30 minutes
  • Eye strain from RIS systems and computer monitors
  • Frequent lifting, bending, stooping, walking, standing, and sitting throughout shifts
