What Is the Job of an Orthopedic Radiologic Technologist?
An orthopedic radiologic technologist prepares patients for orthopedic procedures. As an orthopedic X-ray technologist, you take patient X-rays and perform medical imaging, carefully following procedure and ensuring patient safety. Your responsibilities include maintaining patient records, writing up monthly reports, and ensuring the X-ray device meets regulatory standards. You also adjust and set up radiologic controls and select ionizing factors for radiological diagnosis. Other duties may include preparing patients’ X-rays for the physician, ensuring all radiologic equipment is clean and in working order, and requesting outside images for new patients with upcoming appointments.

Summary/Objective
Radiologic Technologist is responsible for serving a full schedule of patients in a high volume, highly specialized, outpatient orthopedic clinic. Maintaining focus on providing a superior level of customer service and delivering unwavering, exceptional quality care is a must. Â
We are currently hiring PRN Radiology Technologists (X-Ray Techs). These roles offer a very flexible schedule for up to 29 hours a week. Â
Essential functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
- Selects length and intensity for radiation exposure by adjusting equipment on an individual patient basis to obtain optimum image quality with lowest amount of radiation.
- Work one-on-one with patient to complete x-rays that are ordered.
- Positions patient and adjusts equipment for performing images following procedures established by Forté Sports Medicine & Orthopedics.
- Follows prescribed safety standards for operating radiology equipment.
- Maintains patient confidentiality as outlined by HIPAA and policies of Forté Sports Medicine and Orthopedics.
- Examines images for film properties such as density, contrast, definition, magnification and distortion

- Moving patients, lifting and helping patients with needs, lifting and moving heavy x-ray equipment, transporting patientsÂ
- Frequently on your feet standing and walking Â
Required education and experienceÂ
- Completion of course in Radiologic Technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), required Â
- Current certification with the ARRT and the State of Indiana, requiredÂ
- Knowledge of computerized radiology (CR), digital radiography (DR), and PACS system, requiredÂ
Preferred education and experienceÂ
- Prior experience using Electronic Medical Records systems is preferredÂ
Travel requiredÂ
- Travel to FortĂ© clinics in central Indiana as needed.Â
