Job Title: Emergency Department Registration Representative

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Overnight Shift, 11:00 PM - 7:30 AM, including rotating weekends

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registration Representative to join a fast-paced patient access team. This overnight position is responsible for welcoming patients, collecting and verifying information, supporting registration activities, and assisting patients with insurance and financial-related questions. The ideal candidate will have prior overnight work experience, strong customer service skills, and experience using Epic within a healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities:
• Collect and verify patient demographic, insurance, and financial information during the registration process.
• Accurately enter, update, and maintain patient records within the electronic medical record system.
• Assist with patient arrivals, departures, and appointment-related activities when needed.
• Discuss payment responsibilities with patients and process point-of-service payments.
• Verify insurance eligibility and coverage through payer portals and other verification resources.
• Support authorization and pre-certification activities by gathering required information and documentation.
• Provide information regarding financial assistance programs, payment options, and insurance resources.
• Educate patients and families on insurance benefits, billing processes, and expected financial obligations.
• Maintain detailed account notes and documentation related to patient interactions.
• Follow established policies, procedures, and payer requirements to ensure registration accuracy.
• Deliver exceptional customer service while working in a high-volume healthcare environment.
• Assist with additional administrative and patient support duties as needed.
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous patient registration experience in a healthcare environment.
• Experience working overnight shifts is required.
• Proficiency with Epic or a comparable electronic medical record system.
• Understanding of insurance verification, eligibility review, and patient access processes.
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining accuracy.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Additional Details:
• Initial training will take place on a Monday through Friday schedule from 9:00 PM to 5:30 AM.
• After training, the regular schedule will transition to 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM with rotating weekends- ability to work this schedule is REQUIRED.
