The CT (Computed tomography) Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiological diagnosis of patients.

The CT (Computed tomography) Technologist

  • Operates highly specialized, technical equipment to obtain quality images.

  • Works with physicians, other healthcare providers and patients.

  • Performs IV contrast injections and other skills as required.

  • Evaluates and positions patients.

  • Interprets information needed to identify each patient's requirement and/or specific needs and provides care per applicable policy and procedures.

  • Interacts with patients, families, visitors and all members of the healthcare team to develop, coordinate and manage the plan of care.

  • Assists patients with scheduling, registration, file management and computer processing Trains students and staff as assigned.

  • May need to travel to other Carilion facilities to meet patient needs.

    Education: High school graduate or equivalent. Graduate of an approved school of Radiologic Technology.
