PRN Registered Nurse – Various Shifts

Responsibilities Cypress Creek Hospital is a free-standing 128-bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in north Houston, TX, and minutes south of The Woodlands. Cypress Creek Hospital features individual units for adolescents and adults and offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. On average, over 10,000 patients receive care from our compassionate health care team each year at Cypress Creek Hospital. We are comprised of a tenured dedicated team of Psychiatrists, Nurses, Social Workers, Mental Health Technicians and Support Staff where delivering compassionate care is our mission.

Position Summary The RN is responsible for implementing and evaluating patient care on the Adult/Adolescent/Geriatric units; for providing supervision and guidance for nursing staff members; for assuming responsibilities delegated by the Chief Nursing Officer, Assistant Chief Nursing Officer, or House Supervisor; for personal and professional growth and development. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Completes patient admissions process, including nursing assessment.
  • Documents ongoing patient assessments/progress clearly and concisely as required by hospital and regulatory agency standards.
  • Medication management – administer medication and medical treatment as prescribed by a physician.
  • Participates as member of interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Ensures nursing interventions.
  • Provides milieu management and unit team leadership.
  • Provides appropriate nursing intervention/documentation in crisis situations.
  • Reports unsafe conditions.
  • Provides age-specific communication, limit setting and interventions.
  • Provides health education to patients and their families.
  • Prepares and adheres to facility patient discharge process.
  • Interacts with patients and staff in professional manner, promotes teamwork and demonstrates Service Excellence
  • Attends mandatory staff meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Registered Nurse Job Requirements Graduation from an accredited nursing program. Licensed by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas (or licensed in a compact state). One-year psychiatric nursing experience preferred. CPR and hospital de-escalation certifications which can be obtained during orientation. Must be able to complete new hire requirements such as a nationwide background check and pre-employment drug screen. State and Federal Office of the Inspector General check.
