JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for leading installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of production/manufacturing equipment to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations. Serves as a technical resource for complex breakdowns across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic/hydraulic, and automation/control systems; drives preventative/predictive maintenance effectiveness and reliability improvements. Plans and executes repairs to minimize downtime, mentors other technicians, and supports equipment upgrades and commissioning.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, gas, and chemicals. Requires frequent lifting, climbing, standing, walking, crouching, squatting, bending, and kneeling. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs throughout the shift. May require weekend and/or holiday work

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead execution and continuous improvement of preventative maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PdM) programs; optimize PMs using failure history, OEM guidance, and reliability best practices
  • Resolve complex equipment failures by troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and automation/control issues; support line recovery and verify safe start-up
  • Facilitate breakdown investigations and root cause analysis (RCA) using structured methods (5-Why/Fishbone); implement and verify corrective/preventive actions to eliminate repeat failures
  • Set and enforce high standards for safety, quality, and workmanship; validate repairs through functional testing, documentation, and production handoff
  • Lead by example on safety compliance participate in audits, JSAs, and incident/near-miss follow-up
  • Own CMMS work quality: create/close work orders with clear problem/cause/correction, record labor/parts, capture downtime codes, and provide feedback to improve planning, PM compliance, and reliability metrics
  • Partner with Operations and Engineering to drive Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and continuous improvement; lead/participate in downtime reduction, defect elimination, and changeover optimization efforts
  • Support and/or lead equipment upgrades, line expansions, and reliability projects; coordinate with vendors/contractors as needed and assist with installation, commissioning, and acceptance testing
  • Operate with minimal supervision; prioritize and coordinate work based on safety, production impact, and risk, escalating appropriately and ensuring timely communication
  • Develop and improve standard work, troubleshooting guides, and shift handoff practices; ensure accurate documentation to support consistent execution across shifts
  • Support spare parts strategy by identifying critical spares, improving parts identification/BOMs, and partnering with stores/purchasing to reduce extended downtime risk
  • Mentor and coach maintenance team members; share best practices, support skills training, and serve as a go-to technical resource for complex issues

TOP SKILLS (MANUFACTURING MAINTENANCE):

  • Electrical troubleshooting (AC/DC), motors, sensors, relays, contactors, and control panels
  • PLC/VFD/HMI diagnostics and recovery (I/O verification, safe force/override practices per policy, parameters, fault trending, and basic networking awareness)
  • Pneumatics and hydraulics troubleshooting (valves, cylinders, pumps, regulators, leaks)
  • Mechanical systems: bearings, gearboxes, couplings, belts/chains, alignment, and precision installation
  • CMMS proficiency (work orders, parts history, PM compliance, downtime tracking)
  • Safety leadership (LOTO ownership, risk assessments/JSAs, arc flash awareness, and reinforcing safe behaviors)

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 7 plus years of industrial/manufacturing maintenance experience, including ownership of complex troubleshooting in a high-speed production environment
  • Demonstrated senior-level electromechanical troubleshooting expertise; able to lead equipment recovery and coordinate support during critical downtime events
  • Hands-on experience with electrical troubleshooting (motors, drives, sensors, relays/contactors, and basic control circuits)
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical breakdowns and performing precision repairs
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • CMMS experience (daily work order execution, PM compliance documentation, and parts usage tracking)
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and pneumatic/hydraulic diagrams
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis and effective communication of findings/actions
  • Working knowledge of preventative maintenance planning/scheduling and reliability practices (TPM/5S/standard work)
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment and participate in shift handoffs and cross-functional problem solving
  • Basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets) and ability to learn site systems and documentation standards
  • Ability to safely use tools, test equipment, and lifting devices required for the role (meters, hand/power tools, etc.)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred: Industrial maintenance certification, PLC/controls training, or equivalent demonstrated capability
  • High School Diploma or GED (technical degree/certifications preferred)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs throughout shift and perform essential physical functions of the role
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules as needed (including weekends/holidays) to support production requirements
  • Maintain dependable attendance and punctuality
  • Ability to pass required drug screen and background check
