Position Summary
The Lead Person position is responsible for overseeing set up/break down procedures, organizing and ensuring that the department is staffed and making the necessary adjustments as needed. The Lead Person will instruct, direct, and assist hourly Team Members as needed as well as complete required paperwork. This role works closely with the department supervisors, other department leads, and processing team members, in order to accomplish accuracy within the processing department and to ensure that our customers receive quality products. This position executes processes that ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations, supporting Foster Poultry Farms' mission, vision, and ACTION guiding principles: Accountability, Collaboration, Truth-Seeking, Initiative, Ownership, and Nimbleness.
Essential Functions
  • Assist supervisor with production quality: correct boxes, bags, corndog counts and any other aspect of quality.
  • Assist supervisor with ensuring production cards have the correct product code number, the correct pallet count and that the production pallets are wrapped tightly.
  • Assist supervisor with coordination of timely breaks, setup and starting on time, training of hourly personnel, changeovers and Team Members hygiene.
  • Assist supervisor with proper code dates on products.
  • Assist supervisor in ensuring a safe environment for Team Members and reporting unsafe acts.
  • Assist supervisor to ensure proper functioning of the metal detector and assist with minor mechanical repairs and/or locating maintenance.
  • Don proper Personal Proctective Equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

All personnel employed or associated with Foster Poultry Farms are responsible for the quality and food safety of company products. The food safety and quality policies are summarized and communicated in a company handbook and at training sessions. Each new hire is provided a handbook and attends a food safety training session before beginning work. All employees attend a refresher training session at least once per year. Records are maintained reflecting the distribution of employee handbooks and attendance at the training sessions.
Physical Requirements
Qualified applicants must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:
  • Must be able to stand for up to 10 hours on a wet concrete floor
  • Must be able to withstand a cold (40-48 degree) environment.
  • Must be able to withstand a hot (80+ degree) environment.
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in a fast pace work environment.

Qualifications
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Must be able to submit and pass a criminal background check, drug screen, and E-verify.
  • Must be able to read and write English.
  • Must have basic math skills.

  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • HS diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels including management.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Decision making ability for the flagging of deviation from procedures.
  • Good leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to work safely and set an example of safe working habits for their coworkers.
  • Must be able to safely operate forklift and/or pallet jack.
  • Must wear company provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
