Overview of Position: 


The Pool Attendant / Server at Appellation Healdsburg is a key part of the hotel’s outdoor hospitality experience, ensuring that guests enjoy a luxurious, relaxing atmosphere at the pool. Combining attentive service and a friendly demeanor, this role provides food and beverage service at the pools and surrounding outdoor areas, while also maintaining cleanliness, presentation standards, and safety for all guests.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet guests warmly upon arrival to the pool area, offering assistance with seating, towels, and setting up lounge chairs or umbrellas.
  • Provide seamless table and poolside food and beverage service, taking orders promptly, accurately entering them into the POS system, and delivering orders efficiently.
  • Be knowledgeable about the poolside food and beverage menu, offering thoughtful suggestions and answering guest questions confidently.
  • Monitor guest needs proactively throughout their time at the pool, ensuring they are comfortable and have everything they need for an enjoyable experience.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the pool deck and cabana areas, including wiping tables, straightening chairs, and replenishing water and amenities.
  • Assist with set-up and breakdown of the pool area each day, ensuring towels and other supplies are stocked and neatly presented.
  • Uphold the highest standards of safety and sanitation, including monitoring pool water conditions (as required by hotel policy), and responding promptly to spills or other hazards.
  • Communicate effectively with the kitchen and bar teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of food and drinks.
  • Assist in managing guest incidents or concerns with professionalism and grace, escalating to a supervisor when necessary.
  • Maintain awareness of hotel events, amenities, and property offerings to answer guest questions and promote hotel services.
  • Support the pool supervisor with light administrative tasks, such as towel inventory or guest usage logs.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Pool Manager or Food & Beverage Supervisor.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a poolside, resort, or high-volume outdoor dining environment preferred.
  • Warm, engaging personality with exceptional guest service skills and a commitment to making each guest feel welcome and valued.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced, sometimes physically demanding environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and a keen eye for cleanliness and safety.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage service, with a willingness to learn menu details and beverage pairings.
  • Physical stamina to lift trays, push pool carts, and stand/walk for extended periods.
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and basic computer skills.
  • Lifeguard or pool safety certifications (a plus, but not required).
