Job description

Job Description About the Role Pinnacle Partners is recruiting for a Project Support Engineer on behalf of a client in Indianapolis, Indiana. We are seeking an early-career engineer with a STEM degree and experience in areas such as electrical design, schematic and panel design, project support, programming/HMI development, and factory testing. This role will support Project Engineers with design, documentation, project coordination, and technical activities while providing a clear career path toward a Project Engineer position.

Key Responsibilities: Support Project Engineers, Service Coordinators, and Field Service teams with technical information, data, and hands-on support as needed. Assist with project design while maintaining project deadlines and deliverables. Support control system design in coordination with Project Engineers.

Assist with the development of submittals, O&M manuals, and training documentation. Participate in project meetings, including graphic reviews and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs). Provide technical support to customers and internal teams.

Maintain clear and concise communication with customers, managers, and team members. Track tasks, schedules, and deliverables using shared tools and calendars. Assist with internal and external project communication.

Maintain accurate project documentation to ensure traceability and accountability. Submit daily time entries for accurate labor tracking. Support after-hours technical response as required.

Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area. Properly label and organize customer materials. Demonstrate a customer-focused and solutions-oriented attitude.

Identify opportunities for future work and maintain a sales-minded approach. Support both new-build and retrofit projects. Assist with smaller projects while supporting Project Engineers on larger projects.

Develop experience in PLC programming, project management, commissioning, electrical design, and other areas of project engineering. Requirements: 1-3 years of professional engineering experience. Bachelor's degree in Engineering or another STEM discipline preferred; an Associate degree may be considered with relevant experience.

Experience in one or more of the following areas: electrical design, schematic design, panel design/building, project management, project timeline tracking, budgeting, programming/HMI development, or factory testing. Strong technical and analytical capabilities. Strong communication and organizational skills.

Ability to track project tasks, schedules, and deliverables. Ability to work effectively with customers, Project Engineers, Service teams, and other internal groups. Customer-focused and solutions-oriented mindset.

Willingness to learn and develop across multiple areas of engineering and project execution. Preferred: Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs. Knowledge of networking, telemetry, and industrial communications.

Experience with project management, including budgets, schedules, and submittals. Electrical experience involving control panels, PLC troubleshooting, or electrical design. Experience participating in Factory Acceptance Testing (FATs).

Experience with PLC programming or HMI development. Experience with commissioning or industrial automation systems. Benefits Overview: Competitive base salary of approximately $70,000 to $80,000.

Monday-Friday schedule, with standard office hours of 8:00 AM-5:00 PM and flexibility for a 7:00 AM-4:00 PM schedule. Standard two weeks of PTO, with the potential for three weeks based on experience. Monthly company bonus opportunity based on invoicing goals.

Additional bonus PTO opportunity for salaried employees based on qualifying hours worked. After-hours service work paid at 1.5x. Weekend service work paid at double time

Limited travel, generally less than 20%. Company vehicles available, typically after 90 days of employment.
