Government Contract Physician Role Description: Inova Occupational Health is pleased to offer a position unique to healthcare systems in the WMA. Now in its fifth year, Inova presents a bespoke small team contract with a local government entity providing pristine work-life balance (0800-1600 Mon-Fri, no call, no weekends) working in Travel Medicine, Occupational Health, low volume walk-in clinic care and location emergency response. While this position is currently PRN or Part-Time, all combination options are explorable.

Government Contract Physician Role Responsibilities:

  • Clinician and Emergency Response: Provides professional clinical duties within the fields of Primary Care, Urgent Care and Occupational Medicine; identifies conditions consistent with disease, illness, disorders or injury; institutes immediate or temporizing treatment of patients with education, variable-range care plan and disposition to include transport with EMS coordination and follow-up as needed.
  • Teamwork/Coordination of Care: Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with others, from Inova teammates to fellow service contractors, to government employees and supervisors. Exhibits understanding of other clinical disciplines and uses an integrated approach to achieve desired patient outcomes both within and external to Inova.
  • Practice/Learning: Uses and regularly reviews evidence-based standards, guidelines, and protocols to the delivery patient care as it pertains to location and governing authorities. Incorporates new information and approaches, when appropriate, to continuously improve patient care and practice.
  • Professionalism / Professional Development: Ensures ongoing growth and development of clinical skills and knowledge by assuming responsibility for lifelong learning. Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice, serving as a clinical resource and mentor. Demonstrates leadership skills through participation in program development.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD or DO) degree from an accredited allopathic or osteopathic institution.
  • Experience: 5 years prior clinical experience required. Knowledge of occupational medicine and workplace health regulations.
  • Certification: Board certified in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine Occupational Medicine or Emergency Medicine. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) upon start. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred but not required.
  • Background check: Employment is contingent upon meeting all federal credentialing and security requirements.
  • Licensure: Unrestricted VA Medical (MD or DO) License and an active DEA prescribing authority.
  • Payor Credentialing: Successful completion of credentialing process by third-party payors and to be enrolled as a CMS Medicare/Medicaid payor.
  • Medical Staff Credentialing: Successful completion of credentialing for Medical Staff membership and appropriate clinical privileges sufficient to perform all required services.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of experience in Primary Care, Emergency Medicine
  • Military, or Government experience as a physician or otherwise
  • Prior or current security clearance of any level

Positions available for Full Time/Part Time/PRN and various facilities. You will be considered for a position in Fairfax County, VA.
