Weekend Physician Contracting information

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in Weekend Physician Contracting roles, and how can they be managed?

Professionals in Weekend Physician Contracting often face challenges such as balancing a high patient volume with limited weekend resources, quickly adapting to diverse practice environments, and maintaining clear communication with both permanent staff and temporary teams. Effective time management and flexibility are crucial, as weekend shifts can be fast-paced and unpredictable. Building strong relationships with facility administrators and being proactive about clarifying expectations before each contract can help ensure smoother transitions and job satisfaction.

What is a Weekend Physician Contracting job?

A Weekend Physician Contracting job involves hiring physicians to work specifically on weekends, usually through a contractual agreement rather than full-time employment. These positions are often used by hospitals, clinics, or urgent care centers to ensure adequate medical coverage during weekends when regular staff may be unavailable. Weekend physician contractors typically work set shifts and may receive higher compensation due to the non-traditional hours. The flexibility of these roles can appeal to doctors seeking part-time opportunities or additional income. Responsibilities can include patient consultations, urgent care, and sometimes on-call duties.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Weekend Physician Contracting specialist, and why are they important?

To excel in Weekend Physician Contracting, a strong understanding of healthcare staffing, provider credentialing, and contract negotiation is essential, often supported by experience in healthcare administration or human resources. Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), credentialing software, and compliance regulations such as Stark Law and HIPAA is typically required. Outstanding interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage time-sensitive communications make someone stand out in this role. These skills ensure efficient physician placement, regulatory compliance, and the maintenance of high-quality patient care during weekend shifts.

Job description

Are you interested in working flexible hours, connecting with people one-on-one, and helping them re-engage with their health? At Signify Health, part of CVS Health®, our mission is to build

trusted relationships to make people healthier.

We’re hiring physician (MD/DO) contractors to conduct In-home Health Evaluations for Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, and certain commercial plan members.

* Conduct in-home visits that focus on a person’s overall health and well-being and identify potential barriers to care

* Earn up to $3000 to $5000 each week (Average 6-9 visits daily, base rate of $100 per completed assessment)

* Increase your per-visit rate up to 160% with our Market Multiplier*

* Medicaid License or willingness to enroll (with our support) strongly preferred
* Shifts available Monday - Sunday (no nights/weekends required)

* Short-Term or Long-Term basis
* Pre-scheduled visit in-home w/ health plan members
* Airfare, Hotel, and Rental Car available (depending on eligibility)

* Malpractice coverage
* Availability Incentives (based on weekly availability)

* Independent Contractor, 1099 status
* Flexible Schedule
* State License Required

* Paid Collaborative Physician Roles available in certain states

These visits include a medication and medical history review, as well as a physical evaluation performed in a health plan member’s home. Our physician contractors can earn a competitive wage (or supplement their current income) while managing other personal and clinical commitments. You will be provided a pre-populated, patient-specific form for each evaluation and do not prescribe medicine, order lab tests, or alter people’s current treatment regimen.

This is an excellent opportunity for resident physicians to earn additional income or for more seasoned physicians seeking a change of pace.

Making a Difference - what physicians say about working with Signify Health

* “Many of the people I see are shocked a physician is coming to their home to visit with them one-on-one. When you sit down and have an unhurried conversation about their health, they are impressed, happy, and understand that their health plan and care team cares about them.” - Marcie L., M.D., Arizona

“The primary care physician gets a snapshot of a person in an office setting, but with Signify Health, we see things like the number of steps to enter their home, the state of disrepair those steps may be in, and the person’s ability to function comfortably and with ease in their own home. We can make referrals to the individual’s health plan, encourage the participation of their loved ones, and ensure their PCPs are aware of their health and overall quality of life.” - Cathy H., M.D., Kentucky

*Incentive rates are subject to change. Area exclusions apply.
