What is a weekend personal trainer?

A Weekend Personal Trainer is a fitness professional who works with clients on Saturdays and Sundays to help them achieve their health and fitness goals. This role involves creating personalized workout plans, providing coaching on exercise techniques, and offering motivation and support. Weekend Personal Trainers often work in gyms, studios, or provide virtual or in-home training sessions. This position is ideal for those with a passion for fitness who want a flexible, part-time schedule.

What are some common challenges weekend personal trainers face and how can they overcome them?

Weekend personal trainers often encounter high client demand during limited hours, which can create a fast-paced environment and require careful schedule management. Additionally, clients may seek extra motivation on weekends or want to make up for missed sessions earlier in the week. To overcome these challenges, trainers should be organized, adaptable, and proactive in communication to manage time efficiently and keep clients engaged. Creating structured session plans and offering flexible booking options can further help maintain a positive experience for both trainer and client.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the weekend personal trainer position, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Weekend Personal Trainer, you should have solid knowledge of exercise science, personal training techniques, and health coaching, typically validated by a nationally recognized certification such as NASM or ACE. Familiarity with fitness assessment tools, gym equipment, and client management software is commonly expected. Strong communication, motivational skills, and the ability to build client rapport will help you stand out. These skills and qualifications are crucial for delivering safe, effective workouts and fostering client retention during peak weekend hours.

Why Gold's-
You'll have access to: A large diverse membership base; A respected global brand; A team environment of serious professionals; Real career growth for those who earn it.
Gold's Gym isn't a hobby gym, and this isn't a hobby job.

What This Role Really Entails
This is a performance-based coaching position inside one of the most recognized fitness brands in the world. Your success here will depend on:
•        Your ability to coach, not count reps
•        Your ability to build relationships, not just programs
•        Your willingness to work the floor and earn clients
•        Your consistency, professionalism, and personal standards
•       If you care about being mentored
•        We don't hand out full schedules; We provide the platform- you build the business.
This Job Is Results-Based
Your performance will be measured by: Client retention, Client results, Session volume, Professional conduct, Member engagement on the floor. If you are uncomfortable being measured by outcomes, this role will not be a fit
Responsibilities

•        Coach 1-on-1 personal training sessions
•        Program smart, safe, results-driven workouts
•        Educate clients on movements, recovery, and basic nutrition
•        Build strong relationships that drive retention and referrals
•        Deliver high-quality, individualized training sessions
•        Actively engage members on the gym floor daily
•        Convert fitness assessments into long-term clients
•        Track measurable client progress (strength, body comp, performance)
•        Maintain a clean, organized, professional training space
•        Uphold Gold's Gym brand standards in appearance and conduct
•        Communicate clearly, follow up consistently, and show up on time - every time

What Sets Our Top Trainers Apart

Our most successful trainers:
•        Approach training as a career, not a fallback
•        Are comfortable discussing pricing and packages
•        Follow up with leads relentlessly and professionally
•        Continue their education without being told
•        Care deeply about client success - and it shows
•        Carry themselves like professionals inside and outside the gym

This Is NOT the Job for You If
•        You sit on your phone between sessions
•        You wait for clients to come to you
•        You think certification = competence
•        You avoid sales conversations
•        You cancel sessions frequently
•        You're not training yourself consistently
•        You struggle with punctuality or professionalism
•        You view this as a temporary side gig

Requirements
•        Nationally recognized Personal Training certification (NASM, ACSM, ACE, NPTI, ISSA, NSCA, etc.)
•        CPR/AED certification (current)
•        Minimum 1 year of coaching experience and experience growing and managing your books
•        Ability to work evenings, and/or weekends
•        Professional appearance and communication skills
•        Physically able to demonstrate exercises and be active on the floor
Benefits
•        Free Education and Credits towards CECs
•        Discounts on Certifications
•        Multiple commission and bonuses streams to increase income outside of training
•        Paid Floor Hours to get your books stacked
•        Free Gold's Gym Membership to our locations
•        20% Employee Discount on clothing and products
•        Medical Benefits
•        401k
