What Does a Virtual Personal Trainer Do?

As a virtual personal trainer, you work as a coach who offers on-demand exercise and personal training classes and delivers these services online. Using a combination of email, live streaming, video uploads, and video chatting, you review health plans, complete fitness assessments, and instruct clients on technique and form. Your other duties and responsibilities may include recording and uploading videos to your video library, completing training templates, and performing general web maintenance. To become a virtual personal trainer, you must meet minimum personal training certification qualifications and have excellent digital literacy knowledge such as an understanding of online marketing and technical software (for training and video editing), as well as strong communication and customer service skills.

Trainers also schedule regular check-ins and offer motivational support via messages or emails to help clients stay accountable. By tailoring workouts to individual goals and maintaining open communication, they create a supportive and dynamic virtual environment.
