What is a Weekend Pastor?

A Weekend Pastor is a clergy member or minister who leads religious services and provides pastoral care primarily on weekends, often in a part-time or supplemental capacity. They may be responsible for preaching, conducting worship services, and offering support to congregants during weekend gatherings. Weekend Pastors often serve churches that do not require or cannot support a full-time pastor, or they may assist full-time pastors by focusing on weekend activities. Their role is vital in ensuring regular spiritual services and community support are available to church members.

Who We Are

Overflow Church is a church of 400–500, multiethnic, multigenerational church in Southwest Michigan that has experienced consistent growth coming out of COVID. During the pandemic Overflow experienced a year-long pastoral transition, Overflow averaged around 100 in weekly attendance. In that season, the church faithfully endured leadership transition and uncertainty. In 2021, Overflow Church hired Pastor Elijah Shamenda, and since that time the church has experienced year-over-year growth, renewed clarity of mission, and increasing health across attendance, leadership, and generosity.

Overflow is led by a committed Elder team, pastoral staff, and ministry leaders who believe we are called to be more than a local congregation, we believe we are called to be a regional church. Our vision is to plant five campuses over the next ten years, and we are actively pursuing the launch of our first campus in Kalamazoo.

We are passionate about reaching the neighbor and the stranger those both near and far from God, and we are looking for a Worship Pastor who wants to be part of a big, faith-filled vision that requires sacrifice, teamwork, and long-term commitment.
