Position Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily blueberry packing operations within the warehouse to ensure productivity, quality, food safety, and employee performance standards are consistently achieved. This role supervises packing line employees, coordinates workflow, monitors production goals, and ensures compliance with company policies and agricultural food safety standards.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong organizational and communication skills, experience in warehouse or agricultural production environments, and the ability to manage fast-paced seasonal operations while maintaining high standards of safety, efficiency, and product quality.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations

  • Supervise daily blueberry packing and warehouse operations.
  • Coordinate labor, packing schedules, and workflow to meet production goals and customer deadlines.
  • Monitor packing line efficiency, productivity, throughput, and downtime.
  • Ensure blueberries are packed according to customer specifications, packing standards, and quality requirements.
  • Communicate production updates, equipment issues, and operational concerns to management.
  • Assist with startup, shutdown, and changeover of packing lines and equipment.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, train, and supervise warehouse and packing employees.
  • Assign daily tasks and monitor employee performance and attendance.
  • Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work environment.
  • Address employee concerns and assist with coaching and disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Ensure proper staffing levels during peak production periods and seasonal operations.
  • Train employees on safety procedures, food safety standards, and company policies.

Quality & Food Safety

  • Enforce food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance procedures throughout operations.
  • Conduct routine inspections of packed products, production areas, and employee practices.
  • Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, OSHA, and all company food safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate production, quality, and inventory records.
  • Report product quality concerns, contamination risks, or operational issues immediately.
  • Ensure workstations and equipment remain clean, sanitized, and operational.

Warehouse & Inventory Support

  • Coordinate the movement and storage of packed products within the warehouse.
  • Monitor packaging materials and communicate shortages to management.
  • Assist with inventory counts, product rotation, and warehouse organization.
  • Ensure equipment and machinery are properly maintained and safely operated.
  • Support shipping and receiving activities as needed.

Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and enforce workplace safety procedures and company policies.
  • Conduct safety meetings and ensure employees wear proper PPE at all times.
  • Report accidents, injuries, unsafe conditions, and equipment concerns promptly.
  • Maintain compliance with all company, customer, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous supervisory experience in warehouse, production, agriculture, or food packing operations preferred.
  • Experience in produce packing or agricultural operations is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and employee management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Basic computer, reporting, and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and extended seasonal shifts.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to work in refrigerated, wet, or warehouse environments.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.

Preferred Skills

PREFERRABLY be fluent in both English and Spanish (written and verbal communication).
