Job description
Murdoch is currently recruiting for a Registered Nurse located in the Infirmary. The Infirmary is a 24-bed unit which provides 24-hour nursing care to people requiring hospitalization to treat acute illnesses as well as end of life care. The Infirmary provides emergency response and professional nursing coverage in residential areas after the nurses in those areas have left duty. It also provides assessment and treatment of employee injuries for the entire campus after hours and on weekends and holidays and ensures administrative staff are informed of events as indicated per policy. All employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events.
This is a full time position and eligible for the full state benefits package including Health Insurance, paid sick/vacation/holidays, retirement, etc.
Scheduled work hours/shift: 1st shift - The normal working hours/shift: Weekends 36/48 (Two-week schedule); 6:30a-7p-12 hour shifts (36/48 hour weekly rotation). Week one: Friday/ Saturday/ Sunday/Monday. Week two: Friday/ Saturday/Sunday or Friday/Saturday/ Sunday 36 hour week (Permanent - Part Time option) Schedule adjustments as needed/requested.

To qualify for the Sign-on Bonus, a newly hired permanent full-time or permanent part-time employee must work 30 to 40 hours per week to be eligible. Those who are eligible and working less than 40 hours a week will receive a prorated rate.
An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
- The employee has held a position in the North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system, within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date)
- The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency
- DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.

MDC is one of three regional developmental centers operating as part of the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF). MDC in Butner serves 25 counties in central NC. Murdoch has approximately 1600 employees providing residential services and supports to people with IDD, complex behavioral challenges and/or medical conditions whose clinical treatment needs exceed the level of care available in the community. In addition to regional admissions for adults, MDC operates four statewide programs, which include support for children and adolescents with complex needs. Centrally located, MDC is convenient to Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill.
