Job description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Answer incoming calls, greeting callers, providing information, and transferring calls.
  • Assists callers in determining the proper department or person they want to be connected.
  • Assists in calls where speed and accuracy are essential.
  • Performs clerical duties such as typing, filling, documenting, and other miscellaneous duties.
  • Maintains an organized Directory with updated information such as on-call schedules, updated and current telephone numbers/addresses, etc.
  • Follows all HIPPS laws and regulations.
  • Route emergency calls appropriately.
  • Contacts security and maintenance staff members when necessary.
  • Daily Census.
  • Utilizes Meditech/MOX, Outlook, and Cerner for e-mail, patient/physician look up.
  • Acts upon and follows policy and procedure for all emergency codes and disasters.
  • Utilizes and Maintains Air Messenger Pro paging.
  • Utilizes and maintains ComNet overhead paging and zone paging.
  • Utilizes and maintains ARC Call System.
  • Pages appropriate personnel audibly via paging through the Cisco switchboard system & CES.
  • Pages physician and staff via Microsoft Outlook.
  • Monitoring Fire (Siemens), generator, and security systems (Cure). Monitors alarms and contact proper personnel when needed.
  • Utilizes and monitors Rauland - Nurse Call.
  • Utilizes and monitors Security radio.
  • Dispatching Building Services during meetings, after hours and on weekends. Operators are responsible for documenting the incident and dispatching the technician on call.
  • Dispatching Home Health after hours and on the weekends. Operators are responsible for documenting the incident, managing the home health on call schedule, documenting patient information, and contacting the nurse on call.
  • The Operators are a backup for Security and takes their calls when no one is available.
  • Operators train new hires (operators) and the Security staff.
  • Pro Operate TDD and Pacific Interpreters to process calls requiring special attention.
  • Provides information on patient location and is familiar with call restrictions of each area.
  • Ability to provide an appropriate initial response to irate callers and contact appropriate staff and escalate call.
