Temple University's Division of Student Affairs is searching for an Operations Manager.

Salary Range: $47,000 - $50,000

Position Summary
The Operations Manager oversees event reservations, operations, and facility coordination for the Howard Gittis Student Center (HGSC) and additional campus locations, ensuring seamless execution of events for student organizations, university departments, schools, and external clients. Reporting to the Assistant Director, Events, this role integrates event management, facility oversight, and student staff supervision to enhance customer service and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities include event scheduling, logistical planning, coordination of auxiliary services, on-site event oversight, facility management, and compliance with university policies and safety standards. Additionally, this role supervises student event staff, manages billing and financial reconciliation, and contributes to strategic planning initiatives.
The Operations Manager must be available to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends, based on event schedules.
The Operations Manager is a vital part of the Student Center Operations management team. As a department within the Division of Student Affairs, the Student Center serves the Temple University community with a vibrant 200,000 sq. ft. facility that houses meeting and multipurpose areas, student organization spaces, university offices, lounges, study areas, and a variety of campus services such as the Bookstore, Mailroom, and the Philadelphia Federal Credit Union. The Student Center also provides the following programs and services: "The Reel" Movie Theater, The Game Room, The Graphics Media Center, and the Information Desk. The Operations Manager is responsible for serving students, staff, and faculty that support the mission of the Division of Student Affairs and Temple University. They contribute to a positive university experience for every student and are accountable to the Division of Student Affairs (DoSA) Values. The DoSA values are Excellence, Inclusion, Innovation, Integrity, and Respect.
The Student Center is normally open from 7AM-Midnight Monday - Fridays; and 8AM - 10PM on the weekends with extended hours as needed.
Job Details
* This position requires the following background checks: Cash Handling and Personally Identifiable Information background check. This must be completed prior to commencement of service.
* Offer of employment is conditional upon the successful completion of a pre-employment physical.
Required Education and Experience
* Bachelor's degree
* At least two (2) year of experience working in Student Center Operations, Hospitality, Conferences and Event Services or related field.
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preferred Experience
* Previous work within a university environment.
Required Skills and Abilities
* Excellent interpersonal skills, along with the ability to effectively interact with a diverse population of students and staff.
* Demonstrated customer service and organizational skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Windows OS.
* Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion.
* Demonstrated ability to set priorities, coordinate multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently and efficiently.
* Ability to translate and communicate the mission of a complex, urban university.
* Ability to persuasively represent University goals to various constituency groups.
* Must be able to work flexible shifts between 6am-12am as well as weekends when needed.
* Intensive concentration and excellent listening skills.
* Ability to multi-task and focus on completion of tasks and objectives while under stress of demanding work schedule,
* Must maintain a positive and objective approach and attitude, even when confronted with difficult situations.
