Job description

Join Our Team as an Operations Manager at Megunticook Market & Catering!

Looking for an exciting leadership role in a dynamic and fast-paced environment? Megunticook Market & Catering, a cherished institution in Camden, Maine, is seeking a hands-on Operations Manager to oversee our daily operations, inspire our team, and ensure an exceptional experience for our customers. If you thrive in food service, retail, or hospitality and love being at the heart of the action, we’d love to hear from you!

About Us

Megunticook Market & Catering is more than just a market — we’re a cornerstone of the Camden community. Under one roof, we operate five thriving revenue streams: a full-service grocery, wine & beer section, deli & prepared foods, a pizza and hot meals kitchen, and a catering service. Our mission is to deliver quality products, delicious meals, and outstanding service to locals and visitors alike.

What You'll Do

As our Operations Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring smooth operations across all areas of the market. Here’s a snapshot of your key responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations across grocery, deli, pizza kitchen, and catering services.
  • Build, schedule, and manage a team of front-line staff, handling hiring, onboarding, and performance management.
  • Maintain consistent product quality, ensure food safety compliance, and uphold store presentation standards.
  • Coordinate weekly ordering and manage vendor relationships within owner-set budgets.
  • Collaborate with the owner on catering bookings and event execution.
  • Address customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Submit weekly schedules and operational updates to the owner.

What We're Looking For

We’re searching for a leader with the following qualifications:

  • 3+ years of management experience in food service, retail, or hospitality.
  • Proven ability to lead and retain hourly staff in a high-turnover environment.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Comfort working weekends and peak-season hours (May–September).
  • Experience with POS systems and basic inventory management.
  • Proficiency with computers and standard business software (email, scheduling, basic reporting).
  • A hands-on, floor-present approach to leadership — this is not a back-office role.

Compensation & Schedule
  • Competitive salary, commensurate with experience.
  • Full-time, on-site role with flexibility based on operational needs.
  • 1 week of paid vacation.
  • An opportunity to grow with a locally owned business in the vibrant coastal community of Camden, Maine.

Why Join Us?

At Megunticook Market & Catering, we value teamwork, dedication, and a passion for delivering exceptional service. As a locally owned business, we take pride in fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment where your contributions truly make a difference.
